My father rose up in a subsidiary through the late 60's and early 70's. He started as a surveyors apprentince on a major infrastructure job. He soon got a job offer to move to Philly where they tried to force him to go through Drexel on the companies dime. He couldn’t cope with the regimented shit and threw it away... but they kept him on... then he realized he burnt a bridge so he left... mind you, he was on Venezuelan gas projects, in Nigeria, Greece, Argentina when the big pop offs were going on... he spoke in manners that I know now weren't 100% transparent.... but he got out in the early 80's... he later worked as a cost estimator for a bidder on the AC project. He would come home
