When my great grandfather was in his 90's, we'd have to announce at the door "pa, we're coming in". He'd put the Winchester back under his bed and welcome us in... than ask for the last 7 days of local newspapers because he collected obituaries of those he outlived... and man oh man did he mostly laugh when reading them.
