Even the pie and mash thing is relatively unheard of up north, although recently I've noticed new takeaways popping up with that theme
 
@Aryan, you know what's funny? When Portuguese people find out someone is American and not English, they do a little hapy dance. It's kind of weird. I always thought Americans were the worst in the eyes of Europeans. But, no... Germans and English are way worse.\.
 
Not always. Often they ask. But I've had many people say they thought I was American. One waiter told us he could tell we were American because we were talking with our hands.
 
@SHAMPAIN, I am talking about Brits who live here. I'm not in a tourist hot spot. There are a lot of British immigrants here. They just tend to be snottier, and the Portuguese people are really warm. They prefer Americans. Not my fault.
