IMO, this sort of cancel culture is a product of the refusal of any elected official to address real issues of concern, like living wages and Medicare for All. The woke BS is a way to divide and conquer, and to keep our eye off the equity ball.

From historic sources IvE read, I don't think that is true. While there may have been Blacks who fought and died in battle alongside their White masters, none is recorded as wearing the Confederate uniform.
Blacks may have officially served in the capacity as helpers, grunts , laborers and cooks tho. But I don't think they were soldiers in the Confederate army.

It was rough back then. Times were different. Ya couldnt just walk down to Wal-Mart and fill out an application.
So yes, many folks, chose indentured servitude. Where you freed after so many years, and were given land or money to support yourself. It was a law. Folks would even seek out certain masters, asking to work for them, cause they knew them to be good masters.
In fact, when slaves were "freed", many died, of starvation and such. For they simply couldnt support themselves.

Not true Joe, many did wear uniforms. I've seen pics of them in the local museum. It was Forest's squad of black's that were known as the Green Berets of their time. Some were excellent marksmen. You must not of seen lots and lots of posts I've made of them.

Native Americans owned Black slaves there and we're fighting a Civil War of their own . I'm quite positive that Native Americans were among the Confederate soldiers as they were also defending their right to own slaves as well.

I think the antebellum South was slavery for poor Whites too - which were over 90% of the South's White population at that time. The slave owners used that system to keep them poor. So that Old South must have been like a feudal society with the Rhett Butlers/Scarlets O'Hara living in Mansions while the poor White masses toiled away for them. Many poor Whites did not own land but we're sharecroppers. That was a similar arrangement to Medieval Europe of Lords and the serfs. Plus they were competing against the slaves who were free labor for the plantation owners.
