Why do people call Aylana "she who must not be named"?
That's just me and I explained it in one of those Vocaroos (damned if I can recall which one though).
Aylana was a young woman posting in a WebTV/MSNTV firewalled newsgroup called alt.discuss.katzenjammer where the norm was for people to be rude, crude, and argumentative with each other. As a poster she was competent enough but tended to overplay the obnoxiously bratty and imperiously condescending angles.
Then one day it came to light that she was probably less than 18 years old.
To be clear a.d.katzenjammer was in no way a rated-X newsgroup. It wasn't a forum people visited to see or post pornography or anything like that. But the topics discussed and vocabulary used weren't exactly family-friendly, either. The group wasn't moderated or labeled "adults only" in any official manner.
Anyway a small war broke out between those who wanted to find a way to force her out of our midst and those who professed a belief that she had a right to be there. I thought the whole thing was a bit overblown and silly because, as I said, the worst she might be exposed to in there was a few idly tossed out "motherfucker"s and she'd already shown not just that she could take them in stride but that she could dish them out as well.
But. Then. It. Happened.
She posted, of all things, a *permission slip* allegedly from her father giving his blessing to her posting in a.d.katzenjammer with us salty grown-ups. The whole thing blew up again even worse than before.
Her original posting style (veering between petulant brat and pompous harridan) was already cloying, but the level of drama and sheer volume of bullshit she brought to the newsgroup was literally insufferable. Poppy/Mulder/Aylana/etc. knows all of this because he(?) was there when it happened and he(?)'s using that nym just to tug on my beard.
That's why I refuse to say the name.
