Anyway - probably to the big res for the last yesterday (till next year).
. .I needed 10 smallies to make 200 on the year and just made those ten, the tenth being a dark beauty from the deep coming in closer to feed heavy before retreating to the cold depths under the ice.
The last I hooked was also a dark beauty and as large, but made it's way off on a jump.

I may have one last opportunity this coming w/e but only if the fishing pard wants to go up, which I'm guessing she will not, so there the 2021 fishing year will end.

200 Smallies, 201 Largemouth.
Not bad for a yankee bassman. I doubt I will reproduce such numbers again.

I’m waiting for my amigo Jayson to get beck from Florida, to go outside. I did fish the Estero last Tuesday. The water was still muddy from the rain. Looked way better yesterday. There a lots of Snook in there, along with some Jacks and river snapper. Oh yeah, lots of Crocs up there too.

Low tide, that drains most of it. Along the edges water remains. Its about a half mile long. They get spooky. Live bait it is the ticket. Its a commitment in time to catch and preserve the bait fish, and start fish hunting. Sometime it pays big. Snook is great eating. Jacks make killer Cerveachi. Today could deliver. A surf @ 9am. Home for an espresso, then the hunt is on.

I guess I am, seeing as how I haven't fished since I went with my father and grandfather in the Puget Sound when I was a kid. I enjoyed it then, and probably learned a lot from them, but I really did hate smashing the fish in the head.

We also used to go crabbing. That didn't bother me so much.

Mmmmm - used to go crabbing in Briel NJ with my older brother. Yum. My aunt would cook them and feed me by hand. I hated that part, but she liked it. God only knows how polluted that water was back then.

. Smallies - Smallmouth Bass are perhaps the hardest, wildest fighting freshwater fish. They are known for their aerobatic escapes from the hook. They are quite a challenge to bring in. This year I landed 85.7% of those hooked up which is quite good - I think.
