Well Lex @The Prowler I recently subscribed to the Motley Fool stock advisor & they recommended Constellation Software which is listed at $3,187 Canadian per share.

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

According to the Motley Fool:

Constellation engages in the development, installation, and customization of software for various markets around the world.

Why Buy:
  • It has a legendary business with a formula for success that just keeps on working.
  • The recent “noise” has opened a rare opportunity to pick up shares at a relatively cheap price.
  • It’s easy to own. Buy shares and let them simmer indefinitely.
However I've heard they've been having trouble lately. Seems an investor could buy a heckuva lot more shares in another industry for a lot less which deliver better returns. Plus there's AI which is decimating a good chunk of the software industry.

Will Constellation Software even be around in 10 years, Lex?

Evidently, they were a very good buy if a person got in at the very beginning when the share price was in double digits. And when coding was done entirely by humans as recently as a few years ago.

However as a stock of the future?

I kind of think not. maybe I'm missing something in the equation that it's more optimistic supporters know about.

However With AI actually writing code seems its glory days are over.

Anyways I think a better bet would be ARX. They will be one of the LNG suppliers for that Phase 2 Natural Gas pipeline out to Kitimat.

100 shares of ARX are less than 1 share of Constellation Software. And when they turn on the tap & the LNG starts flowing the dollars will will start coming in from Asia.

So - nothing scientific about my assumption. It's just a hunch.

But where something like ARX is like a stock of the future Constellation seems like one of the past.

Should be interesting to compare what the valuations of those stocks will be in 5 years

It is difficult to pretend to have a conversation with someone who has such limited knowledge.
I bought some shares in ARX, Agnico, Barrick Gold & Tourmaline today Lex @The Prowler

Personally I think Canadian natural resources mined in Canada are a good bet, Lex. They are a good foundation for a stock portfolio. Especially those ones related to Carney's megaprojects

Next I'm gonna invest in Staples/Utility Stocks.

After that financial stocks.

After that Tech stocks

And finally US & foreign stocks to diversify the portfolio in order to have international exposure, Lex.

About 1/3 of the companies on the TSX 30 these days are Gold Stocks Lex @The Prowler:

I sold everything.

I am buying baseball cards now.
I bought some vintage early 1950s Parkhurst Ice Hockey Cards recently Lex @The Prowler

Them are nice & still relatively cheap.

Most vintage baseball cards are out of reach for most collectors.

But some ultra rare hockey cards with < 30 known & professionally graded copies can be had for as little as $20-30 Canadian.

I don't collect baseball cards anyways Lex.

Only vintage hockey cards Made in Canada eh

Yeah I've started to buy Gold Stocks @Seamajor .

You might try it too, eh? You don't have to buy a lot either. Just buy 100 shares as an initial investment in a promising miner and see where they go.

Luckily Canada has a lot of Gold reserves. Gold mining is big here. if it wasn't for the Gold Stocks, the Toronto Stock exchange would be in the dumps.

Seems Gold is the only thing holding or propping up the TSX these days.

Looked it up & Gold AND Gold Stocks actually do well during recessions. During the 1930s Great Depression Gold soared while everything else was down.

The gold mining companies were doing well while many businesses went bankrupt

Joe, I’ve thought about these Futures. For me, it’s about goods you can hold in your have vs. paper, and bureaucracy. Silver isn’t killing it at the moment, but I have confidence it will. I’m trying to close this little deal, for 5 silver dollars, all minted in the 20s, for $45. each.

US Constitutional Silver which is 90% pure.

I think in your country they call it 'junk silver' unless it has some rare collector or numismatic value.

Fuck….. Another awesome day for Gold and Silver. I’d guess the dollar is again in the dumper, as is the Stock market.
