i didnt like how all the mom & pop hardware stores got shut down but lowes and home depot were immune

amazon and walmart too - immune

I’m not a hardware guy but I used to go to Hechinger’s for random tools or whatever. My Dad had tools and he gifted me tools but if I needed a bike tool or a guitar tool, I could easily find it and get it at Hechinger’s. They were like a specialized Lowe’s. I was sad to see them go. Like, I need a soldering iron for a project I’m doing (not really but if so) I’d go to Hechinger’s rather than Lowe’s if they coexisted.

Amazon should be broken up into several companies for the Greater Good.

If not for the social good, then for the good of traditional old fashioned competitive capiitlism.

When one large corporation swallows up large well established companies employing thousands of people, this is not good for capitalism.

Like, since Amazon came along, JC Penney is no more. Payless Shoes is no more. Fry's Electronics too?

I'm sure there's dozens of examples just like that.

Amazon is destroying traditional American capiitlism.
agreed on some points. hes a self-righteous asswipe but he followed the rules and made a legit mint

he is the mega-capitalist that sort of justifies socialism but most of those 'socialists' only hate money until its feeding their own pockets

...except that monopoly capitalism isn't really capitalism.

It's corporatism and absolute power which is the antithesis of a Free Market.

That's why Republican President used the antitrust laws to break up Standard Oil more than a century ago.

Because it was a monopoly.

Are you claiming Amazon is a monopoly and you cannot buy stuff any where else? If not then it isn't a monopoly. Hell, I doubt it even has much pricing power to increase prices and most of the pricing power it has was to decrease prices by being more efficient. That is supposed to be how a market based system works where as a monopoly isn't a function market as there are no competitors.

Idiota likeotuabud are just filled with envy but she was both too lazy and too stupid to ever start her own business much less make a success out of it.

That is not the definition of a monopoly. You are a tool, and you are using a DICTIONARY definition.

Try a Supreme Court definition, which matters a hell of a lot more than a dictionary.

The Supreme Court has defined market power as "the ability to raise prices above those that would be charged in a competitive market,"
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
and monopoly power as "the power to control prices or exclude competition."

If you don't understand the Amazon has that power, you are witless.

And furthermore, the Supremes also say:

Where monopoly power is acquired or maintained through anticompetitive conduct, antitrust law properly objects.

Amazon's monopoly isn't even as much in their retail as it is in the Big Tech Interests.

It's clear they colluded with the Big Tech Giants to shut down a rising competitor, Parler.

And this consortium acted like a Monopoly imposing its will on another company to shut them down.

So that fits your definition to 'exclude compeition.'

Amazon shut down almost every bookstore in the USA. And now they are opening brick and mortar bookstores. It's disgusting.

Barnes and Noble tried to do their part but they were just a small bookstore in the mall with an internet presence. We had a place called Borders and it was my favorite place to shop. Books, CDs, DVDs ... newspapers and magazines. They had a coffee shop and invited you to hang out to your heart’s content. I wasn’t one of ‘those people’ but you could find a quiet place to sit and browse through whatever. I spent a lot of money in that store.

Bozos and Zuck the cuck aint to blame. If you cunts would drop your Amazon and Facebook accounts, they wouldnt have any money or power.

...and yet yous supported cutting taxes of poor starving billlionaires like Bezos and Zuckerberg.

And look what it led to - absolute power for them and shutting down your Saint Trump and Parler.
No, lack of competition led to their power, idiot.

I think when Bezos, Zuckerberg and all those other billionaires pass away, their companies should be forced to break up in order to inject new life into the Free Enterprise Capatlist system.

Otherwise the USA is creating a bunch of dynasties, which runs contrary to the principles which it was founded on.

Excessive hereditary wealth is ruining the US and other capitalist natons.

Billionaires don't need the money anymore when they're in the grave.
I think 100% of all their wealth should pass to the people of their choosing tax free because they already paid a higher tax rate than anyone else. Why the fuck should the government EVER get to double tax?

Anyways, I agree, up to a certain point, people should be able to pass on their estates to family members.

But not $100 billlion worth. Perhaps billion to each child but no more.

With estates of that size, the majority of it should be used to reinvigorate society and perhaps the Capitalis system itself.

Otherwise what you end up with is a King of Kings mentality with large family dynasties akin to the Royal Families of Old Europe - which incidentally was their undoing and led to their demise because it stifled innovation and progress.

I believe that is what the United States founded upon - to get away from monarchies and encourage innovation.

An example of a country which is stifled by dynasties and excessive corruption is Mexico.

I hope the USA doesn't make their mistakes or turns into them.
THATS TAXATION! YA BRAINDEAD IDIOT!!!!

No...it need not be taxation nor thought of as that.

It could be a benevloent form of capitalism which is either passed on during the benefactor's lifetime or after they pass on such as major infrastructure projects

example:

...so it doesn't necessarily have to go to Government coffers, but could even be in the form of a Venture Capital fund to encourage new startups to inject new life into the Capitalist system.

You idiot, if you confiscate wealth and redistribute it, its ALWAYS a form of taxation. If you voluntarily give money for the gubmint to distribute, thats VOLUNTARY TAXATION. OMG you're dumb!

This new 'Robber Baron' Billionaire class is not unoke the Monarchies of Old Europe which stifled it and led to that continent's demise as a World Power.

And yes, excessive concentration leads to na excessive concntration and abuse of power.

That's how Big Tech stifled your St. Trump and shut down Parler, Lokmeer.

The simple fix is break em up, not taxation of wealth 50 years down the fukin road, retard. Zuk's got an easy 50 years before he dies.

...and yet you've provided no solution whatsoever to curtail the excesses of power from Amazon & its Big Tech cronies, Lokmeer.

And that has actually led to stifling its opposition - which means you & people on the al-right, Lokmeer.

So how would you remedy this situation, where an Amazon and others does not threaten freedom of speech & to put organs of Right Speech and Media out of business, Lokmeer?

If you buy from Amazon, YOU DID THIS!!!!!

I think the real reason that you don't wnat to impose limits on Amazon & you uphold the Elite Billionaire class is you're concerned about the value of your stock portfolio.

So I think you're somebody who wants it both ways.

On one hand to sneer at the excesses of Bezos, amazon and co, and other other to reap the benefits of their stock valuations tho it may be damaging the social fabric of American society and oother countries.

This man gave $100 million USD of his own money to build new hosptial facilities in Canada:

&75 Canadian million to a hopsital in Vancouver and $50 million Canadian to one in the town where he was born.

The only thing he got back in return is for those hospital wings to be named after him.

so yes... you can have benevlolent forms of capitalism. They do exist ad they do work.

I think there were similar gifts donated by billionaires in Norway as well.

However, this idea seems to bother a lot of people in this forum.

Rather than seeing it as a way to actually regenerate capitalism, they view it as a Marxists-leninist form of extreme socliams.

At least in America, they're just taking away your right of free speech.

You advocate enriching them to the point where you cut your own throats and muzzle your own people, Lokmeer.

In America, Corporate Might/Wealth makes Right.

And I think you're a drooling retard with a record of being right about 1% of the time!

And yet you support or condone some positions or individuals unpopular with many people on the Right.

I've noticed that many peopl on the Right or even in this forum who are of the same political persuasion don't agree with you.
So. They're free to be wrong too, just like your stupid ass.

ie - you adore Gerore W Bush/Eheny, and yet the majority of right wingers and Republicans I've met from your country agree with your Saint Trump when he referred to Dubya as a "Big Fat mistake".

So you're out of touch with majority opinion on the Right - even in your own country.

I guess Halliburton was good to you.
I dont give two shits who disagrees with me, least of all YOU!

And yet you constantly whine about how 'prog' billinaires like Mark Zuckerberg, Sergei Brun and Jeff Bezos step on you and the folks of the al-Right, Lokmeer.

At least in America, they're just taking away your right of free speech.

You advocate enriching them to the point where you cut your own throats and muzzle your own people, Lokmeer.

In America, Corporate Might/Wealth makes Right.

And in the current political atmosphere, the prog bilionaires have all the power and you have none, Lokmeer.
There you go lying again josephine and that dumb cunt lotus of course grabs your lyin ass, full force, BOTH HANDS!

I have advocated openly for people to boycott facebook and amazon and have openly blamed them for supporting these corporate people. "WE" created these monsters. Dont shop Amazon, like I dont, and dont have a fakebook account, like I deleted mine! I would also welcome ZERO regulation on what people say on fakebook, even threats of physical harm. They should NEVER be censored, EVER.
