I eat fast food. A lot.

My latest routine has me stopping for a Sausage Egg McMuffin on my way to the meetings, then another Sausage Egg McMuffin on the way back to my office. I'm now averaging over 1,000 calories -- half the normal amount of daily required calories -- before 9:00 a.m. And sometimes I throw in 2-3 hash browns with 5 packets of ketchup. Then there's that Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit at Wendy's with morning fries. Sometimes I eat fast food twice within hours or just drive across the street to another one to make it a ''BMW buffet''. That's just breakfast.

I spend roughly $1100 a month on fast food and eating out. Not exaggerating--i sat down and tallied the numbers from a bank statement over the last 4 months. I was floored. But it also helped to explain my 55 lb weight gain over a few months. It's impacted my health negatively, but also my wallet. I eat fast food probably three times a day since my divorce. I want to begin eating healthier and less expensive meals. It's hard for me to quit for a few reasons.
  • I don't know how to cook, whenever I don't eat fast food I'm eating something that's not filling.
  • I work a very stressful full-time job, it helps alleviate the stress by eating a quick hot meal and not having to worry about preparing something or eating something that doesn't fill me up.
  • My ex wife used to always buy fast food, so it's sort of comfort food for me in a way.
Favorite fast food chain and one reason why?

Subway- for the most part it tastes good and it's a lot healthier for you than eating all that greasy fried shit at other restaurants. So you can eat something that tastes good and isn't so bad for you to eat. :)

WTF, I can only choose three? Firehouse Subs over Jimmy John's by a slight margin. I haven't tried Jersey Mike's because it's out of my way.

Five Guys over Wendy's for a burger and fries, although Wendy's is more convenient and I might get a spicy chicken sammich with that.

McDonald's, only for breakfast. That steak, egg and cheese bagel with a hash brown and an egg mcmuffin as an appetizer. YUM I'd rather order breakfast from the local convenience store on the way to work. Funnily enough, they sit beside each other off an interstate exit.

As far as pizza goes, I have my local favorite pizza shop and order delivery. I make it worth their effort. (as well as lack of mine) I'll order a pizza and a sub and probably chicken wings and maybe some onion rings.

Where I live we have McD's, BK and Subway at the local mall and also another McD's drivethru

When I lived in the US I enjoyed KFC more than all. I wished they had one here in my city

But Brazilians have their own ethnic junk food, like fried pastries

Some of you might have had a cheese empanada in the past, the Mexicans have them too, I tried a couple decent ones in the US

And I don't know the quality of their dough in Mexico, but an authentic Brazilian cheese empanada hot from the frying cauldron is like crack. Chug it down with an icy Coke and it's the most delicious artery clogger this godforsaken planet could offer you, IMO

Seriously. There was a good Brazilian fried pastry place in Newark NJ, one of the few reasons I'd visit the dump.

One time I could smell ammonia in my McD's burger, that was back in 2006. I thought I was crazy, but it happened twice and after that, I kinda avoided McD's, but would still eat it on occasion. I thought it was isolated, maybe they were doing a shitty job cleaning that particular place. A few years later, the "pink slime" scandal came out and I saw them mentioning how the used that crap to clean the "scraps" of meat from the floor. I felt disgusted and started avoiding it like the plague.

BK saw a lot of my money after they opened here, but after they decided to meddle into politics here, I took another look at McD's. I saw some people saying their food had changed a lot, so I gave it a go. It tasted a lot better than any I ever had in the US. Since beef here is cheap, they have some really nice burgers in that Signature line.

These places are expensive here, it's cheaper to go to a local burger joint and you get more food, same quality. The cheapest burger in McD's here is 7 reals, on a country where minimum wage is less than 1100 reals a month, less than 200 dollars these days. When I go there with the family, it goes over 100 bucks some times. One of them signature combos is 33 reals.

Sonic, for their Super Sonic Jalapeno Cheeseburger. The Jack In The Box "Ultimate Cheeseburger" comes in an uncomfortably Joe-Biden-sniffing-your-hair-close second.

Mediocre coffee at luxury prices. What's not to love.

As for Skin, the coffee is Boyd's Red Wagon, brewed and enjoyed at home.

When Skin was a much younger cowpoke, working as a skip tracer for Toyota Motor Credit, Taco Bell gorditas were a lunch staple. Skin particularly enjoyed the howls of olfactory agony from coworkers entering the mens' facilities after Skin had deposited the "second hand" gorditas just at quitting time.

In ‘N Out, Freddy’s Steakburger & Frozen Custard, Popeye’s for their chicken sandwich. Chic-Fil-A has really good waffle fries and mac’n cheese.

For me it all depends upon if I am traveling for work or not. At home we mostly cook at home, when we do go out (which is getting rarer these days due to wife, kids, etc...) I prefer a nice sit down restaurant, but sometimes we do get fast food simply because the boy won’t stop asking for some.

I was told, way back in the 1990’s, by a friend who worked at Wendy’s not to eat the chili. He said it was made from the old dried out burger patties from the previous day. I have had it before and it taste ok to me.

There are a lot of rumours about fast food and how it is made from food that you do not want to eat... Usually it's all bullshit :)
Remember the YouTube movies about the McDonalds nuggets?

WRT fast food and all things chili; I need to mention the Southern California only fast food chain or “Original Tommy’s Burger”. They do all things chili related. Chili burgers, chili dogs, chili cheese fries, and, yes, even a cup of chili (with or without beans).

Before In ‘N Out became a thing in Southern California there was Tommy Burger. It is a shame their location in San Diego isn’t near any night life because in L.A. Tommy’s is known as a late night place you go after drinking at the clubs.

I always thought the burgers at five guys were over cooked and rather dry (thus why they put way to many condiments on their burgers so it slimed out every where) while their fries are good if eaten immediately but, as they put them in a drink cup, even five minutes later they get steamed until mushy and not a hint of crispiness remains.

That said, I am looking forward to seeing how the chicken sandwich wars continue. I hear Church’s Fried Chicken’s new deluxe chicken sandwich stacks up against Popeye’sdeluxe chicken sandwich. I tried KFC’s new chicken sandwich offering and found it lacking (sure, it was juicy but the breading was oily and not crisp while the salt level wasabsurdly high even for fast food). Popeye’s is still the sandwich to beat but maybe Church’s can offer some competition.

Great choice...the founder was a Portuguese South African. The sauce was actually a recipe from nearby Mozambique that used to be populated by the Portuguese before the civil war. That cooking influence moved into South Africa and the rest is history. Butterfly-cooked chicken is the way to go.

Damn right! Extra hot marinade too! I've only recently started eating meat again since I went veggie a year or two ago :)
