Gov shutdown about to get worse

I'm going to need a new passport within a few months, in order to continue traveling around Europe and back to the USA.

I wonder if it's going to be a problem if this shutdown persists which it appears it will indefinitely.

I know I should be more sympathetic towards the Federal workers who can't feed their kids or pay their rent but I've got vacations planned.
