Throughout the history of the world, people in power and/or questing for power have committed unspeakable atrocities. As you all know, one of the oldest we have on record is the Roman Senate's successful conspiracy to murder Cesar.

But humans have this odd tendency to believe that, in whatever time is contemporary to said humans, we have somehow magically risen above such atrocities, and we all know better than to commit them now, in our advanced times. And somehow we believe that the USA certainly doesn't participate in them, even though we have the clear evidence of things like Hiroshima and Vietnam, and more.

My argument is that human nature has changed very little, and yet the ways in which to create and carry out conspiracies and commit atrocities have simply become more sophisticated. More doable, really.

Yes, the Reichstag fire was one such conspiracy. And, no, we didn't simply stop there. We continue. The disappearances in South America, the attempts to murder Castro, the ousting of democratically elected president Aristide from Haiti by the USA, apartheid in South Africa, the Cheney/Bush wars, Russian BS, Gaza. This shit goes on and on and on, and we all know it.

Yet some throw up their hands and say "No way!" when it is argued that JFK was assassinated by his own government, that 9/11 was a successful conspiracy, and that Trump might have staged his own assassination attempt.

Why? None of these things are out of character for the power mongers in the world. Look at how long hundreds of people, rich and powerful people, kept their mouths shut about Jeffrey Epstein, and even protected him the first time he was charged with crimes.

I think the reason people close their eyes to the truth about things like JFK and 9/11 is because we are all good citizens. We have been raised to believe there are precepts of right/wrong and that we all should adhere to them. But what many of us fail to recognize is that the rich and powerful do not care about such things, and do not adhere to the laws of the little people. Come on! How was a Hitler ever possible? How is Netanyahu possible? Trump? The senators who killed Cesar? Henry VIII with his wives? They did what they did because they knew they were not among the little people and ethics and laws did not apply to them.

All you have to do is look at the facts of Trump's life to today and you KNOW he believes he is above the law, and he believes he is the rightful president. There is plenty of evidence to argue that Trump will do anything to take the throne again. Dispense with your disbelief and use the evidence supplied by the FACTS. THEN make a judgment call, and only then. Don't make judgment calls based on your disbelief than any American could do anything so heinous and get away with it. Powerful people do it all the fucking time.

I agree with most of that.

It does beg the question, if human nature changes very little, what do we pin our hopes on for a better future?

Well, my opinion is that we're in decline. A precipitous decline. Greed has won out in most cases.

They're just weird as hell.
I listened to a late night lecture on the BBC a few weeks ago, I forget what the topic was, but one thing they mentioned was that The Greeks, The Romans, The Barbarian Invaders, the Medieval Knights etc, were not at all dumber than we are today...they just lived with less accumulated knowledge than we do.

The problem is, aside from general lack of knowledge of human history (or future course), that people image (those in the more civilized nations, that is - which are a small percentage of all people) that since we have a high technology that it's that which represents advancement and human development. Could be that we, not only humanity but the entirety of the phenomenal world, are at the point of deepest emersion in materialism/matter (maximum involution), or...the time of greatest expression of evil. That which some may say, accounts for the surge in conservatism.

at the point of deepest emersion in materialism

The word you were looking for was "immersion", not "emersion", you idiot. And before you make some stupid argument about materialism being "within people" or some other fuckwittery that you are known for, I will stop you now: If you meant that, you would have said "emersion of" not "ermersion in". So shut up and just try to learn something, you retard.

Seriously, you people think that you are having a deep discussion, but you are just plain old dumb ass fucktards.

None of you have made a post in this thread that I could not pick apart and expose your stupidity.

You are so fucking stoopid it’s painful.

Explain why Donald Rumsfeld reported the pentagon could not track 2.3 trillion dollars the day before the 9/11/2001 attack on the World Trade Center.

So..what is your World view Lex @The Prowler?

How do you see things differently?

What flaws can you see in @LotusBud 's argument?

What are it strengths?

Its weaknesses?

You have 10 minutes to respond.

You will be graded on a scale of 0 to 100.

...the clock is ticking, Lex.

People need to understand that when a bunch of low IQ people get together, it will not produce high IQ results.

It is just more.

Dumb.

Do you know you have this habit of just making shit up, assigning it to a specific group and then whining about it?

Is this just par for the course of being a bald narcissist married to a big girl?

If only such IQs ran consecutively instead of concurrently. It's been a single afternoon and I must admit I am not holding out much hope for a majority of these people. This is very concerning to me as we tend to align politically but seem to have a vast variance in terms of intelligence.

I'm beginning to suspect my allegiances are to the wrong side of the political spectrum.

I sometimes think it's possible some ancient civilizations were way smarter than we are in many ways.

I mean, how did they build the frickin Parnhenon? Which, by the way, was a Pagan temple, not a church.

It's hard not too wonder when looking at some of the ancient marvels
