Though I do want to clear up, when I said "no more dangerous than any other breed" I should have worded that better. I know a pit bull bite is significantly worse than other breeds... what I meant was are they any more likely to bite than other breeds.
The two really do go hand-in-hand. How likely and how damaging will help determine overall danger.
Are they more likely to become aggresive even with sterilizing and proper training than other dogs?

Their breeding history is interesting
If you get one of the original blood lines that have not been "ruined", you should get a dog who is much less likely to bite a human than an average dog.
If you get one of the blood lines that have been bred as guard/attack dogs, you should get a dog who is much more likely to bite a human than an average dog.
