I can get an 8 piece from Royal Farms for a little over $15. Sides are extra. They used to be the place to go for the best fried chicken but their prices are outrageous.

I think my store sells an 8 piece dark meat for $9. Hell, I can walk up to Jerry's (an independent grocery store) and get drums and thighs for less than a dollar each. And they're meaty. And, of course, the price of a traditional 8 piece is a great price. (i forget what it costs because i don't buy it that often. i usually get a breast and two thighs) They have sides like mac & cheese, potato wedges, mashed potatoes and gravy ... and you'll pay less for those sides than you will anywhere else.

We bought two rotisserie chickens (organic) for $15 at Sprouts, picked up a spinach salad last night. Probably $25 total for a healthy meal without any frying or preservatives at all. And we have leftover chicken.

I remember back in the late 80's when KFC ruled. Their batter was awesome and the piece sizes where a pretty fair. Now it's just half of the seasoning and dark greasy batter.

That doesn't surprise me one bit. KFC had incredible chicken back in the day but they changed some shit and now it sucks. What they had going was working and working well. Why make changes? If it ain't broke don't fix it.
