Long ago I once ordered a VHS tape of what I thought was a Japanese anime but turned out to be animated tentacle porn (hentai?). I gave it away. Many, many people look back and wish that they still had a particular item(s) because of suddenly discovering what they are worth today. I can't tell you how many sports cards and toys I had as a child that I lost and traded away that are now worth some decent money. I was a kid. I was more focused on playing, not the future value of my toys. One regret I do have from several years back is not doing my homework when I had a PS3 game called 'The Godfather: Don's Edition'.
I sold a bunch of my PS3 titles at once with that game included and getting roughly $5-$12 each as they were used. I come to find out that roughly a year later that damn Godfather game was selling for like $50+ ffs. The internet has changed collectables' values dramatically though. Stuff from like back in the 60's to 70's that were deemed to be rare aren't so much now because the internet is so worldwide that many thought to be rare items have surfaced as a result.

Your copy could have very well been a collectable. Can't predict the future. One thing should be noted about collectables is that value is relative. If you have a comic book for example that is worth $100 listed it may sell for three to four times that value if someone wants it bad enough.

I sold porn, there really isn't a market since most collectibles get reissued unless there was illegal issues surrounding the original pressing or aren't available on DVD or there's a contract or ownership rights not allowing it. Just like the music industry, I remember buying garbage bags full of people's old collection..
Back in the day VHS videos would retail at 69.95 each used 39.95 haha Classics were even higher and Mile High video already sold our company rights to duplicate and redistribute .. so redonkulous amounts of money which costed the company around a dollar to make..
I remember Cafe Flesh was over $150 and Hustler video hung onto the ownership rights over Caligula XXX..
I suggest holding onto videos that are illegal or has a sensationalized cast like Traci Adam's or Marylnn Chambers, Linda Lovelace ... etc..since copies aren't being made legally anymore due to lawsuits
