I don't think landmines are the answer, but let them find out the hard way. Shameful.
Land mines are nasty, but so are AR15’s. I don’t blame them. It seems self evident that Tsar Putin wants to put The Band back together.

You have a point. I just wish they thought this through because it seems they rushed into it.

I Don’t Think any of those guys are smart enough to successfully keister a firecracker, let alone light it. But maybe they might surprise us all.

Anna's like the other strong women around here, like lily, lotus, fred, and Murdy.

If I didn't mention you it's either because you're actually a man, or just weak.

I served in a strike unit on the Iron Curtain. It was a very real thing. Barbed wire, machine guns nests, land mines. We were there for one thing: to kill Russians if they crossed over. The Russians love land mines. They also have a habit of NOT removing them once they leave. To this day civilians are still losing feet, legs, and lives because of this. The reason Ukraine has been slow to advance territory is because of the indiscriminate use of land mines that Russia deployed on Ukrainian soil.

The entire civilized world banned land mines after WWII. The USA did not join the landmine ban because we use them in Korea on the DMZ. It is much better to have a no-mans-land that is impossible to sneak across, rather than have endless amounts of troops guarding that border. If you know anything about Korea, you know what a frozen shit hole it is in Winter. My son-in-law was stationed there. He said if you stood in one spot too long your boots froze to the ground. You do not want to be there in Winter. The USA does NOT use land mines in ordinary conflicts.

Anyone who shares a border with Russia is smart to get ready. Putin is a total scumbag and answers to no one . No country has the manpower to effectively seal that border with just troops. Land mines are an inexpensive and horribly deadly way to dissuade an aggressor from crossing your border. Besides, if Russia sends it's men to test it, they will get a taste of their own medicine.

Excellent point. I was only thinking of the downside of the use of mines.

Well said Sir. The Fact that Putin is a well known shitbird is why trumptards love him, they adore authoritarian tyrants.

Larry is right though. There is nothing worse than a landmine that is left behind in a farmer's field or some woods. The farmer, his kids, his livestock, all are vulnerable to these demonic things. Kids playing in the fields and woods are the usual victims. The Balkans are still a very sore spot with kids finding mines the hard way. There are volunteer groups dedicated to clearing mines in former war zones like that. The UN has a support program that works hard to help these groups.

When we lay down a mine field, careful maps are made showing exactly where they are. Otherwise we could fall victim to them ourselves. Every GI is instructed on how to search for mines and to mark the position. There are specialized units that then come and either explode them or disarm them. A tough job requiring nerves of steel. Russians don't bother with that.

When it comes to securing a border with mines there is a procedure for that too. Every single mine is GPS located, plus on a map, with grids showing every location. The area is well marked, fenced off with barbed wire, warning signs in several languages, and still patrolled by security. No one wants kids or animals wandering into a mine field. But no one in their right mind is going to test a mine field by just strolling through.

There is one procedure for clearing a path through mines that only the most inhumane of creatures would use. That is taking prisoners, or your own troops, and forcing them to walk through a mine field at gun point. Every safe step is marked, and when one explodes, that creates another safe area. Reports are that Russia is using the North Korean soldiers it got to do just that. Captured North Koreans say that if they get wounded, the Russians execute them rather than treat them. This is the part of a 'police state - dictatorship' that the morons don't get. Until it bites them in the ass.
