I can't see the Senate passing this. It it is passed, then it can be challenged in the courts.

That's bullshit. Thank God, I took my name back after I divorced.
My wife kept her maiden name. Back then it was a requirement to change your name if filing jointly, so she had to fight to keep it. They changed her name legally as soon as we got married.

How the fuck can any female congresswoman vote for that shit? Are they morons?!
Thank God for the filibuster. But it looks like the Senate will pass it.

They cloaked this last year when they introduced it with that fake news that millions of illegals could vote.

Now that they control everything they've added a shitload to it and are sneakily trying to make it law.

I'm reading the text of the act. I haven't found the part that states that a woman's name has to be identical to what's on her birth certificate.

doesn't mention "women" by name iirc. Just says the name on the BC HAS to match the name on the voter reg. They're being super sneaky about it, which is why it may well pass.

It's disguised as a tool to keep illegals from voting, ignoring we already have many tools in place to do that already.

So yeah, voter suppression to the max. if they can take out 80% of the female voters with this one act when implemented the way Project 2025 means to, they can control any future election they want.

This is what I've found, maybe I'm misunderstanding it...?

“(5) A valid government-issued photo identification card issued by a Federal, State or Tribal government other than an identification described in paragraphs (1) through (4), but only if presented together with one or more of the following:

“(A) A certified birth certificate issued by a State, a unit of local government in a State, or a Tribal government which—

“(i) was issued by the State, unit of local government, or Tribal government in which the applicant was born;
“(ii) was filed with the office responsible for keeping vital records in the State;
“(iii) includes the full name, date of birth, and place of birth of the applicant;
“(iv) lists the full names of one or both of the parents of the applicant;
“(v) has the signature of an individual who is authorized to sign birth certificates on behalf of the State, unit of local government, or Tribal government in which the applicant was born;
“(vi) includes the date that the certificate was filed with the office responsible for keeping vital records in the State; and
“(vii) has the seal of the State, unit of local government, or Tribal government that issued the birth certificate.

If you have a passport, it's easy supposedly.

34% of married women have no documentation to prove their birth name according to the stats in that article.

But what this act will do is disenfranchise women by making them jump through serious hoops to prove their identity.

It’s all about disenfranchisement of the wrong voters, like always with them.

Let me reiterate.

STOP THE STEAL!

I am reading the text of the law though. I haven't found where it says the names have to match...what am I missing?

Under the SAVE Act, most voters wouldn’t be able to register to vote with their driver's license alone. Instead, they would need an “Enhanced Drivers License”,

, or another less common form of documentation, like a U.S. passport or birth certificate.

These additional requirements would force voters to jump unnecessary hurdles to exercise a fundamental freedom in our democracy.

And if their Birth Certificate doesn't match their Drivers License they'll need a passport to "prove" their identity.

You think most Americans can't access their birth certificates? Is this really that onerous?

Took me 6 months to track mine down so I could get my passport, and I had to jump through big hoops to get it, so yes. You have to remember the city you were born in and access the proper city hall and hospital to find that documentation.

Most women aren't even aware of this, which is what the maggots are hoping for.

I guess I didn't have that much trouble. I seem to have always known where I was born and what county that it's in. I just paid the $18 fee to pay for the county to provide it for me.

I suppose if you weren't born in a hospital and your parent never registered your birth, this could be a problem. Or, if you don't know where you were born.

I've never met anyone that didn't know where they were born. It's certainly possible.

If this passes the Senate, women are going to have to get their shit together while it moves through the courts.

Yeah replacement is fairly easy these days, back in 91 or so I had to jump through hoops to get a copy. A few years ago it took 30 seconds online a a couple days for the mail.

My concern about this is that we allow ourselves to be distracted by things that can be accomplished. We are willing to die on this hill when we have millions of voters who could vote, but don't.

There are vital pieces of legislation to battle. I'm not sure this is one where we expend tons of energy. We can't react to every provocation. We have to be strategic and purposeful in what we want.

That is why we didn't beat Trump. We were reactive rather than proactive.

These people just prove again how ill-equipped they are in the areas of logic and cause/effect. I never did take my husband's name, but nonetheless, this is pure idiocy.

If this passes, lots of women are going to be surprised at the polls in '26...which is what I think the plan is.

Midterms and all.

So, you're saying if they're already registered, they're being thrown off the rolls?
