Social safety nets will always be fraudulent and leveraged by the governments that peddle them as tools to secure votes and affect social issues.
Safety nets are also immoral. You want to help someone, help your neighbour in need.
Well that's what I mean. That's how the state SHOULD work. On a case by case basis with targeted help with better managed systems.
Deal with the actual issues an individual has that have them stuck. Need a car? Let's handle that. Need employable skills? Let's help that happen. Medical crisis? Let's handle it.
Its never going to work how I'd like to see it work.
I know the way it is right now it does harm and keeps people dependent on the state. They CANT get ahead because they'll get penalized. There are mothers who are on section 8 and they dont let their teenage kids get jobs and work while living in the house because it will cause the mom to lose her section 8.
How on earth is that HELPING anyone?
