After i had my first child and I left my toxic marriage i got a job but still needed some help so I used food benefits for that first year. And I had WIC.

And I realized that if I didn't have the taxes coming out of my pay checks....I wouldnt even needed the food card. If you added the taxes for a month from my paychecks....that was pretty much what I got in food benefits lol.

It was so stupid. I avoided welfare like the plague because was terrified of getting trapped on it. Thats what I see happen. People depend on that and get stuck on the system.

My daughter never got an appointment for WIC even after applying twice with her first child who was born in 2023. Could've used the help. They dropped her state insurance last October but allowed me to keep mine that I got after losing my job even though I don't need it anymore. The system is fucked no matter who is in office. Make it make sense? Not you, but someone. We need paternity leave. 8 weeks isn't enough. I ruined my lower back by going back to work after 8 weeks. We need things to change.
