So seems like they were given bonuses conditionally and would get to keep it if they stayed employed for 2-3 years but if they didn't they have to pay it back.

....is that the correct interpretation ?

So the ones who spent the bonuses but got let go before qualifying for them have to pay thrm back.

Im not On the side of these recruits but something seems stinky/fishy about how the government sold them on working for ICE. in which case someone could turn around and sue them.

I think those recruits were conned.

It was just another way to extract money like a hidden tax from the poor. Give them false promises of fake prosperity then make them pay it all back with interest & fines. The poor get hammered & then paying back to a system which subsidizes rich bastards like Trump. It's like going back to the plantation mentality.

How is this a "con"? They gave the bonuses with clear conditions that they have to remain employed for so long.

If i got a sign on bonus of 50k with terms like that? Im putting that in a bank account and NOT touching it until I have met the terms. I think most people with a brain would do that.
