Clams are hard to come by in VT, but plenty of restaurants make "clam chowder"..but you get the real thing in oceanside restaraunts where they actually have access to "fresh" clams.

Yup. Just like there's beef stew, rabbit stew, lamb stew... so, too, there might be clam chowder, corn chowder, potato chowder, etc.
