BBQing is for whoever enjoys and/or is good at it. That just happens to mostly be men although whether that's chromosomal or cultural conditioning is up for debate.

Oh, not smoking meats...that's where the real work is, Garraty...

You have to keep the fire at a constant temp, make sure there isn't charring involved too early in the process and it takes many hours.
