Italian Americans elevated foods in America. They were poor in Italy.

IMO, Italian and Mexican are the two best cuisines. Lots of Middle Eastern foods come in third.

@LotusBud Yep. My mother visited Sicily one time and their pizza had a lot of tomato chunks and perfect seasoning cooked in a clay oven.

@Reggie, have you had pizza in Italy? I went to this place in central Northern Italy. They had a pizza oven in the center of the dining area, and a buffet section with roasted vegetables to have on the pizza. You just stood there and told them what to pile on your pizza. It was the most delicious pizza I have ever had anywhere, and I've had New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Portuguese pizza.

Lots if good Asian food, too. I don't really like French food. Spanish food is hit and miss. English food is a joke. Portuguese food -- mmmuuhh. There's a really good Indian restaurant here. The owner is Indian and had restaurants in London. Been in Portugal about 10 years.

It was previously poverty food and not very rich in flavours.

That sounds awesome, @LotusBud. I have dago friends that swear everything tastes better in Italy. I always wanted to go there, but never got the chance, unfortunately.
