I worked all elevations... 50 or more kilometres from steady phone reception or any uhf chatter. Had to save myself a few times.

Skid steer with a forestry pack and a kitted up landcruiser with a 400 litre diesel tank were my specialty. I would get dropped off where the float could get to, then retrace my work and start again... sometimes the track was gone when I cleared the vegetarian, and I'd have to spend half a day winching old growth logs and filling in 3 metre crevices to proceed.

The deadliest portion of the day was walking the 1-3 kilometers of mountainbtrack to retrieve the landcruiser to either refuel, fix a fault, or try to put a thrown track back on by myself with the two winches. Every 20-50 feet there was something deadly underfoot.

"Forest Cleaners"... lol... I'd get dropped off with mulcher head attached, a blade, 4 in 1 bucket, hydraulic roller head, and have to drive back and forth incrementally to fetch what I needed... then when the job was inally finished (25-75 kilometers) have to go back and forth to get them all out to the Park gates.

Only then could we get the dozers in... which then allowed the grader in, which then allowed the dogs in for gravel and then a large roller.
