Plus, it can deal with some extremely challenging adult themes. Just one mod, for example: "The Depths Of Depravity", which deals with topics like domestic violence, human trafficking, government corruption, blackmail... that one's pretty pitch-black dark. Then the next one in series from the same author has you helping an Al Swearingen -like character establish a saloon/whorehouse, in the course of which you end up dealing with a drug-and-sex-fueled cult whose leader is an hilarious charlatan.

The base game is like that, too; there's a faction in it called Caesar's Legion -- Roman cosplaying slavers, disgustingly misogynistic, and it is always my very fondest pleasure to slaughter the lot of them after I've broken up their alliances with the game's other factions.

An example of the Legion's villainy: If you go to their war camp atop Fortification Hill just on the eastern side of the Colorado, you may encounter a young girl, who has been enslaved, who had concealed her teddy bear from her captors. I always get it back for her from the man who took it away from her. After giving it back to her, I always make sure the man who took it is the first one I kill.

I always take Boone and Russell when I cleanse that camp. Boone because his wife and unborn child were sold to the Legion; he couldn't rescue her. So he put her down to prevent her spending the rest of her life as a Legion slave. Russell because he had been a Legion slave as a kid and deserved payback on them.
