It just never quite registers with me that I'm in the 2nd world. I mean, I have electricity, running water, heat, air conditioning, fiber optic, cell phone service, super markets, motorways, a car, there is no war brewing, there are no mass shootings, ever, no serial killers. The food here is real, most people speak more than one language, there are three international airports, a really good train system. Longer life expectancy than the US. Access to medical care. What is it that I'm missing???

Of course I miss them. It takes me about 4v vhours longer to get to my daughter from here than it took me from LA. She moved away from us a long time ago. And then the boy followed suit. But he was always out of the country anyway. So, yeah, I miss them, but this is not a 2nd world country. I'd say it's more 1st world than the US in many ways. And I see the kids when I can.
