Grimmy, this is in Spain? That 'Sea Bass' looks like our Smallmouth Bass. And what kind of Flounder is that? In fresh water? It is shaped like what we call a Sundial, but it has a lot more meat than our Sundials. Those are some huge carp all right!

First group of random fish were all in UK waters.
I mean there may be some kind of relation between them though I doubt it, they are a saltwater only species.

We just call them Flounder or flatties they are primarily a salt water fish but you can definitely catch them in estuaries and inlets where the water is brackish

Only the last set was Spain in the Canary Islands< Spain own them but technically the islands are just off north Africa.

Well I'll be. Looks like your Sea Bass is a relative of our Striped Bass. As soon as I saw the Morone family I knew it.
"The largest species is the striped bass (Morone saxatilis)" This from your link. Awesome fish to be sure.

Your European Flounder looks a lot like our Sundial, but with as much meat as our Winter Flounder [Black Back]. We have these Flounders: Winter [no teeth] called Black Back, Summer [razor blade teeth] called Fluke, Yellow Tail [similar to Black Back] found only in very deep water, Sundial [little meat] found everywhere the others are. Sadly, a once thriving Winter Flounder fishery was decimated by no size or other limits. It was over-fished to death. We pulled our heads out of our asses too late. Now the Fluke and Black Backs are severely regulated. Hopefully they will recover too. Back in the 1980's they put a total moratorium on Striped Bass. After several years they bounced back like crazy. Now they are in trouble again.

Do you have Bluefish in the UK? I know they are in the Mediterranean Sea, and around the Azores. Your waters may be too cold for them. Over here the waters are warming, the Blues are venturing farther North then before. You may see them some day. If so- avoid the teeth!!!!

We don't have Bluefish as far as I Know, but they look a lot like a River fish we have called a Shad, surely unrelated but very similar looking also they grow nowhere near as big.

Also you can see just from looking at European Sea Bass and Striped Bass they are the same family, a lot of likenesses there.

Where the forest meets the sea.
Today, I reached both milestones - 200 consecutive outings with a Bass caught, and 2500 Bass caught over the past 5 years.
Tomorrow, I will make my last trek in to my favorite Largemouth Bass lake (tomorrow being the last day of Indian summer), and after that at least one (maybe as many as 3) journeys to the big reservoir for some year's end big Smallie fishing.
