Another example of fake Capitalism is uber/lyft and the ride sharing industry. What they have is in reality a monopoly/duopoly where those companies colluded with and bribed local governments to shut the taxi and limo businesses down.
The typical Uber driver slaves away for a meagre wage while he gives 90% of his revenue to what is essentially a computer app and the monies all go to the ceo and board.
If this really were the free market, anyone should be able to get their own app, rides share, charge whatever they want and keep 90% of the profits
What they have now monoplistic corporate fascism.
And Uber says year after year that it's losing money even tho drivers Give up a a larger % of their revenue and ceo takes more for himself.
Those drivers are like medieval serfs paying for their own slavery in a system designed to keep them poor while the robber baron ceos live like kings and take all of their earnings.
It's the worst employment model ever. Possibly even worse than Amazon. It treats workers like animals. I hope all of these greedy fucking people who enrich themselves off the misery of their workers die slow, horrible deaths and end up in pergatory or something like it forever.
Year after year the 2 major ride share companies claim they are still unprofitable. And yet their CEO & board members rake in hefty salaries.
The other thing is they don't have a fleet of cars to maintain. No insurance, gas or car bills because the drivers pay all those expenses for them. They also insist that its drivers are not salaried employees but 'contractors'. So with no overhead, Uber/Lyft should be making massive profits. A company losing money year after year wouldnt be able to stay in business. So they're obviously lying.
And the politicians they pay off seem satisfied with this arrangement so someone is making a lot of money in the ride share business. And if they were forced to open up their books to find out where the money is going then people would realize what a scam it is.
Yeah their drivers really get shortchanged. It'd be like a barrista who shows up at Starbucks but has to purchase their own high end $40,000 coffee machine where they'd have to buy all the milk, coffee & it gets deducted off their pay. And they'd get no benefits because they are 'contractors'. Plus they'd have to give 90% or more of the coffee sales to Starbucks. So of course at the end of the day, they'd make almost nothing.
But that's how Uber and Lyft operate. Like corporate fascists.
