Not much in a posting mood what with all the bad in the world, in the news, and tensions high on these here message boards these days.

Reset my tackle for Largemouth in heavy cover. Really my favorite type of bass fishing. Going to an old favorite reservoir this week - or as I like to refer to it, this weekend.
River fishing as I'd been doing it all summer - wet wading - is over. It's back to the reservoirs looking for those heavy-weight fall feeding Basses.

Please do stop in at the Opera for this week's very fine performance - now available.

Going to do some heavy reading and light drinking now.

I used to pick em in the redwood forests in N.Cal. Especially good after a forest fire. A nice 1.5 inch fall rain fall you were in business. Porchini, golden and black chanterelles, oysters, and a few others I’m not good enough to identify. My friend Dave that lives in Healdsburg is an expert.

I had a place on Hat Creek (old Station) and found a place off 89 in the
Shasta National Forest with mushroons everywere !
PS - Do you remember the Fountain Fire ?

Warm weather (global warming) brought the river water up to 70 degrees allowing for another day of wet wading - not too bad.
6 Smallies including my best river Smallie of the year.
Still taking off the top but the swimbaits are starting to take em as much.

Today many of thunderstorms were predicted (strange that today I read the fiesta chapter of

..a thunderstorm was featured
but none did here materialize.

Still I got out ahead of the predicted storm and took but one on the secret weapon surface lure.
..came home and cooked my meals for the upcoming work week
leaving tomorrow free for one last fishing outing on the lovely Lenapehanna.

I suppose you are all preparing the popcorn in anticipation of the Biden trouncing of Donald "the Girdle" Trump tonight.

Remembering my conversation with CaseyK
where she mentioned
worms in the water following the rains (which did happen)
I packed some 3" Senkos and 1/0 circle hooks along wiff a few split shots.

__ When I got there
the wind was not yet ramped up (expected were gusts up to 20-30 mph)
I sensed, as we fishermen do, that top-water lures would not produce.
Threw a few casts anyway
..weeds, grass and green slime was all that took to the bait.

Swimbaits could not go a cast without collecting vegetation.
