No, it doesn't stop transmission. What it does is reduce the horrible effects of the virus for most people, including death. Not dying is a great from my point of view.

I still don't go out unnecessarily, I don't gather in large groups, I wear a mask, I got my vaccination, etc. It's not all about me, other people matter too.

I think you are over stating it a bit. I find there are lots of misunderstandings when it comes to online interactions as people tend to come off worse than they intended as no one can see body language or hear their tone. I am sure you are correct that lots of hurtful stuff was said by all sides and it may actually be a good idea for both of you to put each other on ignore for a while.

Nope, there's several. Specifically, I know of one that was co-morbid that had been vaxed and died and one that was vaxed and died 4 days later from the vax within a 1 week period of time. That fukin vax aint a total waste but its both killing people and giving them false hope. He constantly has to console people who test positive after getting vaxed because shitstains like you have the majority believing its a cure all.
