First lesson: Adjectives

This is a very important component in the English language. It makes your sentences come alive and jump out at your audience. Without adjectives, a phrase or sentence is like eating french fries without that extra heaping of salt. Adjectives also play an important role in conveying to the reader what you are trying to get across. Adjectives are only a part of a whole sentence, but we'll dig deeper into that later.

Here at BF High we believe that the curriculum should fit the overall flavor of the forum. So, I'll be incorporating real life posts that you'll see here so that you can get a better understanding of what I'm talking about. First, let's look at what an adjective is:

"A word or phrase naming an attribute, added to or grammatically related to a noun to modify or describe it."

I know that's a mouthful but it's really not. Let's go through some examples of what you see here on a daily basis. Surely you've seen post's about me from other posters. We'll start with that. Here are some examples:

"Flynn is a tranny."
"Flynn is a shim."

"Flynn is a dude."

Okay. You get the point. Instead of posting those redundant and lackluster sayings, maybe spice it up a bit by adding more colorful adjectives and synonyms? Let's see what we can do.

"Flynn is a pickled fruit with a small flaccid sausage."

"Flynn has sex-gender identity disorder that cannot be cured with any modern medicine."

"Flynn may be androgynous to the layperson but I know he runs around hiding his phallic nature by acting like a woman.

Those are just some examples of not repeating yourself when saying the same boring thing. Like anything, it takes practice and time. Keep writing/posting and you'll see your sentences grow and blossom into something Hemingway would be proud of. Always look for new avenues of saying something but stay true to the subject matter or you'll lose your audience. And we'll see you next time.

Class dismissed.

Discombobulate

English never had a word “combobulate” to which the negative prefix could be applied
. Most dictionaries trace “discombobulate” to a variation of “discompose,” “discomfit,” or “discomfort,” all of which were formed by adding negative prefixes to existing words.

For example: “King Martini’s mindset was completely and utterly discombobulated after @Blandscape agreed to take him on in a flame-off.”
