That dude has a lot of health problems.

Hopefully he is ready to fight on July 20 and does not have an episode of any of the long list of health problems he has.
You would too if you fought as long and hard as he has @The Prowler. Hes been in the ring for 40 years. Hes like the Gordie Howe of boxing having fought in over 5 decades

Hes about yer age isn't he?

So you oughta compare yerself with him.

See how ya'd measure up.

He'd swat you across the room with his liddle pinkie Prowler

Settle down, Senile @Joe.

If you wanted to flame me, you had your chance in the Callout thread.

Did you? I must have missed it.

We will have to wait for the decision to be rendered.

My understanding is that strapon has been reviewing the thread and will make his decision soon.

I bet Tyson finally sparred with someone and found out that he cannot take a punch any more.

He is still a pretty horrible person. That "erection joke" he made at the press conference shows the ultra-thug mind he still has...he just hides it most the time. And he showed his hateful attitude towards white women in his aggressive response to the one question from a white woman.

Wouldn't Tyson have built up a lotta of scar tissue over the years after years of being punched everywhere on his body @The Prowler ?

So I'd imagine he'd still have a high tolerance for pain.

It has nothing to do with tolerance for pain, Senile @Joe.

He is old. His brain has shrunk.

A smaller brain will rattle around in the skull and increase the likelihood of a concussion.

And his pot smoking has not helped. It probably made his brain shrink even more.

But, Senile @Joe, there is no way Tyson's brain has shrunk to the size of your pea brain. Be sure to come back here in a week or two and ask the exact same thing because you cannot remember and did not even understand in the first place. You goof.

Mike Tyson has discouraged his Oldest Son from becoming a Boxer:

Mike Tyson : "I had my oldest son who was 16 telling me he wanted to become a professional boxer. But stop there, you're stup!d, you went to a private school! You can't be a boxer, you've taken trips to Europe, you've been around the world. You can't be a fighter with that. You want to fight guys like me? Animals? I don't want my kids to go through that, it's degrading. Boxing, you do it when you have nothing. It's a lot of sacrifices, pain, suffering. I took the blows so that my children wouldn't have to do it. When I look at them, I see middle-class children, who went to school, who do what they want. Boxing means wanting to be the best, to dominate everyone.

I don't want to put that kind of pressure on them."

I think most boxing champions have probably advised their sons to stay out of the sport @Alticus

Have you noticed how few of them follow their fathers into it?

Ie - Ken Norton s son went into professional sports but chose football

Ie - Max Baers son went into show biz and became Jethro.

Hi Joe

I can understand that but boxing can also teach discipline, self-defense and instill confidence. If my father was Mike Tyson I'd be begging him to teach me.

*Also boxers have a lot of stamina. The ladies love that in bed.

Learning to box and being a professional boxer are two very different things.

A few times, when I was younger, I was introduced to people and was called a boxer..."This is my friend, TP. He is a boxer."

I always corrected them: "I am not a boxer. I box, but it is not my main profession."

Similarly, I will say that I play baseball. I rarely, if ever, say that I am a baseball player.

I really don't agree entirely with that, son.
. I could define myself as a fisherman, though I never made a penny fishing.
I could say I have been a baller (basketball) in spite of never making a penny playing ball. I could even say my shooting skills were professional level, particularly for a midget, and I could have played that aspect of the game as it is played today what with all the easy open looks. There are things that define a person (as in activities, and loves - what they do and care about) which are more "them" than their profession, which often is just what a person does to make money. Personally I never let that (work/money) define me, nor did I ever try to make those things I love a money making proposition. Why contaminate the love, purity and beauty of it with money?

Yeah, that is just my opinion about placing labels or titles like "Boxer" and "Baseball Player".

I am even a little uncomfortable with people calling me a "Guitarist" when I do make money at playing guitar. I am probably a little weird about it....

I am very comfortable calling myself a Software Engineer or a Database Designer or a Systems Analyst.

Anyways, the main point that I was making to @Alticus is that Tyson said he does not want his son to be a Professional Boxer, he did not say that he would not teach his son how to box which could still reward his son with discipline, self-defense abilities, and confidence.

Well, but maybe what you are is a guitarist....or maybe
..a race car driver.

Most of my adult life, even my adolescence actually, I associated with, and was friends with intellectuals and artists in one form or another. I'll tell two quick stories of people, their love and passion, and money.
One was a girl (now a woman) who at 5 knew she wanted to be a ballerina - I wonder how many young girls fantasize about that....but this girl grew up never having let go of that dream and had a professional career with several very good companies. It's a very hard life and not a long one. Insane demands in particular Ballanchine school dance. When her career had ended she was so disgusted with what had been her dream that she said for many years she would not even go out dancing with friends on the weekend.
..another woman I knew, connected to the following, was known as a dancer though she never danced professionally, but she loved to dance and I will bet does love to to this day. She was also a first rate lay.
.. A friend of my of many years was/is a very talented painter. At the time (we knew each other and associated closely for about 8 years) he was the quintessential starving artist, mid 50s - it was who he was - an artist, and himself in fact, a work of art could you see him. About the time I was leaving that area and residence, he started to get some recognition and had his work displayed at NY SoHo galleries. He did some small theater in which the lady dancer (the second) and I took part (me as photographer). Today you can find his work, extensive galleries for sale on line. It's pretty remarkable stuff, but I think had he never gotten any recognition that he would have just continued his labor of love as he had done all of those years and decades before.
. Money...money contaminates things. Personally if I think about my professional life, even though I sometimes enjoyed the work and had aptitude for it, I could not imagine ever working in the field again...or working at all really.

Not a race car driver...but this is me, putting the pressure on a Porsche...

...but it's a passion. It is what you become when you get behind the wheel and strap in.
I think...there are people here who make money this way or that, but what they really are is gardeners or farmers, because what they love most and strive to be good at is making plants grow...making them happy and productive themselves whether a flower or producing a vegetable.
No doubt though that there are people that can combine the love and the money, but I'll wager the love is more important.

....sometimes...

But not always @The New Holliday

There are times when the pursuit of money can sometimes bring out the best in artists, particularly if they are starving & are hungry to prove themselves

However money can also corrupt art as well. I've noticed this tendency AFTER the artist or celebrity makes it & they become spoiled by their success and they don't try as hard anymore

So they end up churning out schlock

I went 3 for 3 today....a double and two singles....and I was also walked twice.

If I were pitching against myself, I would probably walk myself too....my bat is just too dangerous.
