Some people must disagree with you because when I Google "tex mex turkey tacos" I get about 13.5 million results...

And some restaurants put ketchup in a bowl and serve it with bagged tortilla strips and consider it Mexican food.

Some of us just know better.

Yes, white people. Who are not "Mex" even if they are "Tex". There are at least 13.5 million of those.

And he didn't say "tacos". He said turkey, beans and rice...not even a taco.

Apparently in Italy they put some version of tomato sauce in a bowl with chips, might have been ketchup. I saw it the story on Yahoo.

Save it for some calamari or fresh bread… what is wrong with people?

He said "toco's" which I assumed meant "tacos" with a grammatical and a spelling mistake.

I do not think he was eating a toucan! Haha!

You're probably right about that. Nevertheless, turkey is practically considered a vegetable in Texas.

I got that from a Netflix show on Tex-Mex cooking. lol

Come on Lily.

This is what Murdock said:

"and consider it Mexican food"

Nobody in that story considered that "dish" Mexican food.

The woman made a stupid assumption. "Chips" means potato chips in many parts of the world. "Salsa" just means sauce (as you know).

Chips and salsa is what food exactly? I provided a link to one woman's experience at an Italian restaurant ordering "chips and salsa".

I'm willing to bet this has happened more than once.

In Ohio, according to my guy, they have a plate of food they call "chili" which is nothing like Tex-Mex chili, it's sounds horrid.

I think we don't know what's out there until we, or someone we know, experiences it.

I always try fish tacos because they all sound good but I never like them.

Me and my daughter were just talking about fish tacos lol. We are gonna try to make them at home and see if we can do it right.

Everyone wants shepards pie tonight so that's what I'm making. And before Break runs his yap....yes im using ground lamb. Tomorrow im making a french toast bake for the morning and just roasting a couple chickens for dinner.

Just us kicking around at home ♡

Shepard's pie, ham, salad. The ham is a bit awkward as we are having ham and roast goose tomorrow but my sister in law insisted on bringing it so I guess we will be very tired of ham after Xmas. My wife made pigs in a blanket as a d'oeuvre.

Tex Mex chili (really just Texas chili) is beanless and it makes a decent dip once cheese is melted into it. Often they use processed American cheese.

I went the last way and just bought it at Costco. They use beef instead of lamb. Not bad but very convenient.

"Chips" could be potato chips, french fries, taco chips, etc, depending on what part of the world you are in.

"Salsa", which means sauce in both Italian and Spanish, will usually be the type of sauce that will pair well with the particular chips. The point is that the restaurant in the story you posted was not trying to pass off potato chips and ketchup as a Mexican dish. The mistake was made by the person making the order.

This is "Fish and Chips" where I live:
