"The Baden Hotel, often known now as EJ's, was opened to the public and dedicated with a date stone on July 22nd 1874."
I am eating there tonight with my wife and another couple. We have been buddies since the mid 1980's. It did not look like we would be friends the first time we met. A mutual friend introduced us as "Hey Joe, this is my buddy Darryl. He is a wrestler. Darryl, this is Joe. He is the boxer I told you about." We shake hands and say "Nice to meet you." But then I notice he is smiling and kind of eyeballing me. I say "You wanna find out if my boxing can beat your wrestling." I had a bit of a short fuse when I felt I was being disrespected. Our mutual friend told me he is a cool guy and I settled down. After meeting him for literally 20 seconds or so I wanted to smack that silly smile off his face. And we have been friends for over 35 years since.
Anyways, I am looking forward to dinner. I love their Fried Chicken Dinner and will most likely go with that. Bonesless chicken thighs deep fried with a buttermilk batter and tossed with whatever sauce I am going to feel like. And the garlic mashed potatoes are awesome there. And they always have great veggies spiced just right. Simple food but so, so good!!
