Purchase Suggestions

I read the "What is the last thing you purchased?" thread here pretty often.

And I want to contribute more.

I just need to know what to purchase.

I do not want to post about purchases like groceries and cleaning products and beer and wine and booze.

Can anyone give me a good idea of a cool thing to buy!?!??

Maybe it is something I would like, and just have not thought about it.
1-2 LIFePO4 200 ah batteries, 1-2 200-300 watt PV blankets, solar controllers to go with them, and a couple of 40 litre Engel Classic chest fridge/freezers... while they're still available.........

If the nukes fall, will the sun be blocked out for a long period?

Only for numerous ground bursts on a world war scale. In such a case, theorists point to 6-18 months of little to no direct sunlight and freezing conditions, but those are just theories. Nobody really knows.

Air bursts don't touch the topography, but by their nature, spread heavy EMP. Most unshielded consumer electronics with circuitry exposed to large atmospheric EMP's would fry. Cars post the 70's, white goods, personal electronics, radios... not to mention the grids themselves which would be fried back to the stone age..... anything not properly shielded (except in cases of what militaries and governments keep on hand). But assuming you shielded your batteries, solar blankets, and controllers prior to an airburst, and only unpacked them after hostilities had definitely ended, they'd still be functional.... until they get fried by all the extra sunlight getting through the injured atmosphere..... but at least you'd have something to tidy up your mp3 and pirated movie collection, photos of your family, important information, et cetera.... though when the grid gets fried, most people will turn on each other and try to kill you and take your shit anyway...

Its cheaper more affordable ta buy gold & silver right now.

Metals prices are somewhat depressed these days

This is why a controlled culling might be the better path....

You are fixated on the price of things, Joe.

It is obsessive and sad.

Keeps me in the Black Prowler .
One time my credit score was as low as 425. And i was refused loans as a result.

But odd thing is...I never went broke nor didn't formally declared bankruptcy. Nor did I require a debt settlement.

I just paid off each of my creditors one by one & gradually paid the debt off. Cleaned up my credi score too.

Today my credit score is nearly 850

So I remember my mistakes & try to avoid going there again. ive known people who didn't tho & they died penniless

I suppose because I went through difficult financial times I don't look down upon the poor or judge them like you do.

So you were an idiot and went into debt.

Now you are an idiot who is fixated on not going into debt.

I guess what I find to be very simple is a significant challenge for someone like you.

Credit scores are ridiculous. Some penalize you for always not carrying a debt. Others for carrying a debt. It's social engineering.

I have no idea what my credit score is.....

I would assume it is very high, but I have not had to borrow money in decades.

...don't get me wrong Lex @The Prowler

I still spend my money foolishly on frivolous things Lex @The Prowler

...the same type of things which originally got me into financial trouble and heavily in debt.

Some recent examples....

Hockey-Cards.jpg

$335 CDN on 10 vintage hockey cards +$105 on slabbing 5 of them. =$440 at a card show.

That was a foolish buy and I somewhat regret giving into spur of the moment impulses .

Another was a SINGLE vintage gold coin:

iimg338278l.jpg

$2700 CDN/$2000 USD on another foolish impulse buy.

However, I put $5,000 away in a TFSA today, so hopefully it makes up/compensates a bit.

Going to put another $5,000 away soon as well to prevent me further from spending too much on even more frivolous things.

Contributing to the TFSA/retirement fund like atonement for my buying unnecessary foolish stuff, eh Prowler?

Any event, I might sell some of these collectibles at some point

At least I can get rid of em and there's always a buyer for the kinda stuff I collect

Collecting is like gambling. It's an addiction Prowler. lol
