Having to get out of a warm bed to start a generator so the fan can run and the heater's safety switch doesn't engage.

Do you live in a third world country?

Wind storms knock down gum trees which cut power lines...

We had a nasty line of thunderstorms come through here a few months back. Took down many trees and a tornado touched down over in Woodridge just about 10 or 15 miles from here.

I made a silent prayer to the Lord of that storm as I watched it approach out of the southwest. Three large branches were snapped off a big scraggly silver maple I have out back when the line of wind and storm hit. The Lord of that storm deposited each of them, gently, into the middle of a fenced off portion of my yard. Didn't hit the house. Didn't take out the fence. It was an amazingly improbable thing to happen seeing as how some of my neighbors had far more damage to their homes and properties from far smaller branches.

I made another silent prayer thanking the Lord of that storm the next day when I dragged those branches out to the street.

Daylight savings time changes. It's more than an annoyance, I despise it. Californian's passed a proposition to get rid of it 3 years ago. Unfortunately, the legislature can't agree on whether to leave DST or remain on standard time. After that, we have to get Congressional approval.

Sooooo today at 4 FUCKING AM that fucking bird perched on the same tree and started doing that fucking loud sound again.

I think it's some sort of mating call, we're in spring here. And it's the most annoying sound you can imagine, it sounds like some sort of beep, most useless bird ever and it can't even sing beautifully.

But these fucking bird is so loud, and everything is silent at the time it's chirping, so I ALWAYS wake up.

And it stays there, for a good hour, and then it goes away.

So today, I actually got off my bed and I filled one soda can with water and I went outside and just threw that can with all my rage and strength towards the tree where the fucker stays.

It went away and it continue its hellish symphony in another tree around the block. I could still hear it, but very faintly, so it didn't bother me anymore.

But I swear, I'll buy a couple fireworks and if that goddamn bird comes back, I'm gonna use the fireworks on it.

When I was 12-ish there was some sort of song bird that would sing at like 3am or 4am in the morning which just loved to sit in the tree outside my bedroom window. It would sing for hours so I know how annoying that could be. One night it just went away and I never hear it again so maybe a hawk got it or something.

There are other birds here singing that time, but they're a lot less noisy, you can only head them if you go outside. At first I thought it might be an "iron cracker", a species of bird that sings very sharp and loud, but it's beautiful, it's not a single-tone annoying sound like this one.

This one also has a very sharp sound, but it's always the same tone over and over, similar to someone hitting metal. If the fucker comes around today again I'll try recording it before hurling another can of soda at the feathery bastard.

You guys don't have to deal with thousands of cockatoos screaming at daybreak every morning through the warmer months...

I actually prefer being in a swarm of mating cicadas...

We do have the noisy parrots here. They are not native but pet owners released them or they escaped and now we are plagued by the noisy bastards. Worse are the Karens who feed these invasive species.

I had that problem in the farm, but I was more worried about some of the birds eating the coffee, especially when it's drying. This is a pretty common type of big bird here, the jacu or penelope.

It has an absolute atrocious call, sounds like some huge animal getting angry, very annoying and scary to those who don't know what's making the noise

So I had 2 klaxons installed on the farm, one close to the house and one close to the drying area.

It scares the birds good.

Interesting fact: the jacu species is known for producing "gourmet coffee", and pretty much like the civet, they poop the beans intact and for some reason, that makes it gourmet for some people.

Although I find it nasty, it sells for almost 200 dollars per kilo. But it's a pain in the ass to raise those birds, they need HUGE enclosures and since you can't trap the birds, you have to buy them from people who already have them in captivity and pray for them to procreate, since the wild ones usually die when you put them in cages.

Those metal twisty ties on plastic bags for bread loafs... the twisty ties lose their cardboard covering then cut into the bag and ruin your loafs freshness...

Wasn't a problem before.... now the quality has plummeted...

Drivers that pull into the crosswalk when a pedestrian is approaching forcing the pedestrian to wait on or walk around their car. Kick their door in.
