so are you saying it's OK to reside in Costa Rica as a self-employed contractor or digital type nomad entrepreneur @Seamajor?

They get paid at what they do, creating their own employment, but same time they don't threaten jobs of the locals.

I wouldn't mind setting up some sort of mobile business(es), travelling, moving around & getting paid while doing it.

That'd be a cool way to make a living rather than being anchored to any particular country.

Portugal and most of the EU also allows this. As long as your employer is not in the country you reside in, you can work as much as you want. Otherwise, you need a different visa.

One of the lovelier things about the Rim these days is that we finally have services like DoorDash here. Rent paid, bills paid, groceries inbound, all attended to at my desk.

@ Joe. CR welcomes digital nomads. You can own a bar. You must hire Ticos tho and pay their wages and benefits.

I love the discussion that has ensued! The best part of work is locking that door after close.

It's so seldom-trafficked that, if you've got the urge (and the balls) you can walk right up into the courtroom and plop your ass down in the Judge's seat. Have done; spent many pleasant hours reading Mark Twain from the bench.
