110 years because his brakes failed

I remember when there was all this advocating for Mexican Nationals to be allowed to drive trucks in this country. I do believe that the strongest advocates were democRATs. Typical.

Are you fucking serious? That was part of the proposed free trade in the Americas agreement, as I recall. All that shit, including NAFTA, was something I always fervently opposed. That's pro-capitalist, anti-worker bullshit.
Damn right I'm serious! Leftists said it was RAYCIS to oppose mexican trucks and drivers. YOU'RE leftist!!!!

I never said that. I thought the trucking part of the proposal was very bad, along with almost everything else in it. You don't know what you're talking about.
I got sick and tired of you denying your parties antics years ago.

And yet everyone who opposed it was called racists and it was "proof" of our racism.

This was something dems/progs spewed hate at us over. It's also an example of why the actual workers supported Trump. Of course though everything was racism and identity politics so yeah this wasnt listened too.

It drives me nuts when they do this. Seriously.

The industry has its lobbyists that influence law and regulation to their benefit, not to the benefit of other drivers. I appreciate your rational and reasonable response to this issue. It sounds frightening to put drivers on the road so quickly with minimal experience.
It is a unique industry, that's for sure. Barrier to entry: Low. Pay: Usually low. Cost of fucking up even just once: Extremely high.

Many view it as an easy, simple job, since the truck goes down the road just like their family car does...

I had a job road testing drivers for a company that I once worked for, and it was what I expected: Many weren't suited for the job. I refused to hire them, but the company did so anyhow...

And surprisingly so, it was a White female that could shift the 18 speed Fuller the best out of all I tested...

I have a female friend who was a trucker for a few years. She said her biggest challenge was driving an 18-wheeler in Los Angeles. I can't even imagine.

I have a friend, now since retired, that drove an 18-wheeler for UPS in San Francisco. I can't imagine.

After time, the novelty wears off. I'm used to trucking in large cities, but it does become repetitive. LA is bad, and so is Seattle. Vancouver (Canada) is the same also for that reason also.

Pay me by the mile to deal with that? No. Now I charge by the hour.

I've been to some nice places though, during my work... All up and down the West Coast!

theres no way that sentence will stick
And I hope it doesn't.

That driver experienced a system that he was unfamiliar with: He thought his actions wouldn't fuck him.

His actions did. Minimum wage truck drivers flooding the West aren't familiar with our laws. He got a taste of this.

He should not have been behind the wheel where he was with his limited experience. He was placed into a position where he didn't know what to do.

This is all because corporations want things done cheaply, with cheap immigrants, that will work for cheap.

Unlike some other jurisdictions, in Canada and the US it is the drivers responsibility to ensure that his vehicle is fully in compliance with all requirements. This means mechanically, weight wise, cargo securement, etc. The driver gets his shit pushed in hard if there are serious defects or loading issues.

Some people may be under the impression that the drivers only job is just to drive, and while that may be true in some other countries, it isn't here.

That said, if there are enough serious problems found with trucks, especially if patterns start to form, or serious accidents, the FMCSA can issue warnings for the company to smarten up. In extreme cases they can cancel your US DOT, meaning your trucking business is forced to close down.

Basically this industry likes things just the way they are here, where the driver is always at fault, and the company is generally isolated from the shady shit that many of them pull.

I own and operate my own truck, but I firmly believe that if any industry needs unionization, it's this one. The consequences of an error is certainly much higher than picking lettuce in a field, or serving you a burger at the drive-thru...

It is a job that often exploits people, for low wage, and long hours. I have seen things that I didn't think possible in a First World country.

I am in a position to tell those that want to exploit me to Fuck Off. Many others are not.

I respect Hoffa, and you'd be an idiot not to also if you drive...

Never been in trucking but I'm sure it's a tough business.

When I was driving limo I actually felt some of these companies wanted to see a driver die on the road to validate themselves. Limo driver is just a piece of meat with a nice shiny smile & tuxedo in a cutthroat business.

Otherwise it's war on the roads & survival of the Fittest.

There were weeks I spent more time in LA, than in Canada where I live.

LA is the worst. I am so glad my kids got out of there and I never have to go there again.

I certainly dislike the place too though it is funny as fuck that you as a liberal contributed in turning it into a shit hole and then fled. That is just like you filthy gutter rats.

Further more she'd be one of the first to take advantage of the lower prices and increased selection capitism and free trade provides but she is too stupid to understand how that improves her life.

It's incredible how they dont make the connections....and they find crazy ways of blaming the other parties when their policies end up horrible. It's like they think as long as they control the federal government too their policies will magically work but they gotta have control over everything.

Yes, I would, you complete and utter moron. No one on earth should be given 110 years because their brakes failed and that resulted in death. No one. Now go look up your next neo-Nazi meeting and leave the people with more than half a brain alone.

His brakes failed due to neglect which clearly makes him culpable or he wouldn't have been given 110 years... Liar! There's a lot of injustice in the world but most people get life without parole for murdering one person, he killed four and will serve a fraction of the 110...
