Memorial Day and we are still in Vegas so we are getting ready to go to the free Memorial Day buffet at South Point. That is not the best buffet in Vegas but we are getting four free buffets and just ha e to pay for the kids. I am very impressed by the housing development my brother in law bought a housein in Vegas. It has lots of parks, a private lake, a 160 acre golf course, a huge country club (we had a great bunch there yesterday which included bottomless memosas), they have a community recreation center which is gigantic with a water park for the kids a lap pool, a massive lagoon shaped pool, saunas, four Jacuzzis, two small kid pools, indoor athletic center, gym, library, area for parties, a full kitchen, billards, ping pong, a library, and who knows what else. Resorts are often not this nice.

The kicker? Their HOA is only $150 a month. It is all gated with private security, life guards, and various instructors and workers. It is amazing how much more you get for your money outside of California.

Today we had lunch/dinner at the South Point Garden Buffet in Vegas, it was completely free and quite nice. They had a policy of one vet gets two buffets free but my mother in law was with us and showed her VA card as a spouse of a deceased 100% service connect disabled vet (he died from Agent Orange) so the very nice lady in charge of the buffet gave us 6 adults and one child buffet for free. She even chatted with my mother in law in Spanish as we waited. It was a very nice gesture which they didn't have to do.

They usually only have their seafood night on Fridays but because it was a holiday they had not only their usual crab legs, oysters, shrimp, and prime rib but also lobster, crab claws, and bottomless mimosas. I was driving so I skipped the mimosas but everyone else seemed to enjoy themselves. It is hard to dislike anything at a free buffet but one quibble was the prime rib was over cooked but everything else seemed well executed. The staff were nice, generous, and very professional plus given that they had just given us seven free buffets I made sure to leave a 50% tip on the usual seafood buffet price of $45 per person.

Over all an excellent budget priced buffet with nice higher class options. Sure, it is not the Baccanhal buffet but that is almost $100 per person where as this one was free yet had amazing options. The youngest seems to have a new appreciation of crab and lobster as well as the usual kid stuff of four cheese macaroni and cheese with toasted bread crumb toppings along with pizza. All in all a great trip to Las Vegas and can't wait to go back. Side note: Mr Mama's is an excellent affordable breakfast option for the whole family so if in Vegas check it out.

We left The South Point at just before 5pm and got into San Diego around 11:30pm. Traffic was a bitch. My wife and her mother wanted to gamble for three hours after the buffet so I took the kids to the arcade, bowling alley, and to we looked at their $4 movie theater but did not go due to time constraints. Over all I lost exactly $106 gambling between Friday to Monday, my wife lost around $550, while my MIL won around $3200. The old lady always seems lucky.

She is now a big believer in Ellis Island Casino both for their cheap but excellent smoked BBQ and their loose slots with low minimum plays. She specifically said next time she visits her son she will ask him to bring her there. She was down to just $0.50 in free play when she hit a $560 jackpot. It went up from there.

Repotted my Haas avocado tree(now into it's 3rd year) and a few other plants as well.
That tree done got a smile on and is standing tall, leaves at full mast.

I am planning on planting two avocado trees in the backyard. Apparently, there are A type trees and B type trees and the difference is when the flowers are open so by having both an A and a B you can double fruit yields. We've recently been busy making our raised bed garden and we have a number of citrus trees but avocado, olive, grape, and papaya are all on the to do list. We will have to sort out the drip irrigation system first.

Nice! I think it's good to have both a veggie/fruit garden and ornamental garden as well. Your climate is perfect for gardening of almost any plant/tree.
