There was no treason here in Virginia. Virginia had every right to leave the Union, as stated in the Declaration of Independence, and also stated in the clause they added in the Constitution. Virginia was one of the last ones to sign the Constitution, they didnt trust it, so they added the clause they could leave, as well as the last few states that signed as well. Here is a good read on it.....

Anyways, I read somewhere that one of Lee's descendants ended up becming a general in the US Army, the same one Lee Fought against.
