I have a number of acoustic guitars...but no banjo. My wife rolls her eyes every time I buy a new guitar.
The thing with acoustic guitars is it takes years to break one in to proper playing performance if you buy one new. All the glued cross braces and seams between top, back and sides have to be gently vibrated into peak tonal performance. That can only be done through hundreds of hours of playing the thing.
On the other hand, I've always wanted a banjo, and my fingerpicking playing style would translate nicely to that instrument, I believe.
I think at my age, toward the end of my time here, I should go with the banjo since I probably ain't got time to properly break in a new acoustic. Plus, I already have two nicely broken in acoustics.
So a banjo it is.
