Yeah, I've heard rumbling that Illini Basketball has been pretty good lately, but you gotta understand, after the 1990s Basketball at any level just isn't a thing. Do you realize that Chicago would have had 8 NBA Championships in a row if Michael Jordan hadn't taken two years off to try baseball?

Last regular season game at high noon. Xavier visits Cats.
.3 pt OT win there a few ago, now for some reason 12.5 pt favs.
Seems like it should be a breeze but they were big favs in that OT thriller too.
A win and they are sure NCAA Tourney bound, even with an early exit in the conf tourney.

. Good win but they should have buried these guys especially with them playing w/o their stud, Trae Carroll, who is very good player.
. The good thing about Cats is they play to their potential quite often. The problem, Their ceiling is not that high really. They are good at beating the teams they should beat, but suck when playing the better teams.

I'm still at this moment seeing them as an 8 or 9 seed though RPI has them at #24. I think that's high, while NET and KenPom have them in the low or mid 30s which is more like it.
Their first BE Tourney game next Thursday.

If they win the 1st tourney game they will be no worse than 25-8. Probably an 8 seed - if they lose then 9 or 10 at worst.
. Too bad they lost Hodge. That was one thing they had going for them this year. Pretty much injury free till then.

5 of their 7 losses came against top 25 teams. The selection committee does factor that in seeding arrangement.

Indeed. That is why they can not do better than an 8 in my view w/o winning against either ST John's or UConn in the BE tournament. I do not see that happening.

All the better though if they go as say a 7 and get a nice soft opponent in the NCAA first round before bowing out.

You're right. The few Pakis I've met referred to themselves as Pashtun or Punjabi. There's no such thing as an ethnic Paki. Its all a delusion.
