Tonight shall be linguini with clam sauce, added shrimp, mussels, garlic bread, and a garden salad.

Chicken red Thai currey with boiled rice. Made myself, with extra chillie flakes to boot. Damn its good to get those endorphins pumping.

But yes, I like my food with no sauces. I hate when my rice turns into a sloppy mess

HELL YEAH IT'S RAINING

The beans have plenty of moist and when I mix in the rice, it gets perfect

Fucking delicious!

What Fromhell said. I like plain rice if youve got a sauce to soak up, looked dry. Beans looked like manky baked beans and ribbs looked like an off cut.

Das Rite!
The beans are pan cooked and once I mix the beans and the rice, nothing gets dry.

Sauce is the kinda of unnecessary crap that people pour on their dishes to make them most delicious woman I’ve ever laid my eyes on!

I eat it sparely.

IMO food needs to be tasty, not beautiful. Especially if you're cooking for yourself.

Your food looks typically home cooked Latino. It was fine. Add the right spices, you don't need a lot of sauces.

I cant stand bland food or when the food is drenched in liquid like this

But I also understand it's my personal taste

"It was fine."?!?!!??

I know you are trying to say the right thing, Lily, but you really are missing The Point.

How much someone else likes a meal does not depend at all on your, or anyone else's, opinion.

it's my personal taste

That is The Point.

To be honest, I was ready to hear the "dry food" comment, I've been hearing it my whole life

I like sauces on my pasta, my burgers, but on my normal plate of food, not so much.

They have a lot of sloppy plates here and I don't like pretty much any of them

I really had no problem with the first few posts critiquing your meal because they came off more like a personal opinion - that they do not think they would like how you prepared that meal.

The "It was fine." post seemed more like an objective observation with no understanding that a person's taste in food is entirely subjective. I mean, I know where it came from and I know her habit of trying to fit everything in life neatly into some tidy box with a rigid set of rules; so that would have an influence of how I interpret and respond to her post.

If I posted a picture of a meal that I made that I said I really enjoyed, I would rather have someone say "It looks disgusting!" than have some condescending twat tell me it "was fine" as if I need their or anyone else's approval to like what I like.

This is where the saying "you do you" applies without sarcasm, as long as you are happy thats all that matters as its your scoff.

Tonight I had Lincolnshire Snausages, Oven chips, baked beans, fried onions and mushrooms with some English mustard and slice of bread for a chip sarnie.

Very basic.

I have decided tonight shall be Indian night so I am currently making an Indian dal (red lentil curry), basmati rice in the rice cooker (only thing added is a bit of butter), and chicken tika masala. One of the boys keeps insisting he wants beef instead of chicken so I might add a middle eastern style kabob as I have ground beef and Sadaf brand kabob seasoning on hand.

Our griller decided to make tri-tip instead of the country style ribs for dinner yesterday. It was nicely seasoned and smokey, tender and delicious. We made sandwiches on delicious brioche buns.

Tonight we're grilling the ribs...
