Just for you liberal, anti-2nd ammendment, abolish guns bullshitters.....ALL OF YOU CAN KISS MY SOUTHERN ASS!!!!!
That looks like pretty scary stuff. Especially the bottom one.
How do you make sure the kids do not get hold of these?
Gun locks/gun safe. My children know not to touch a gun when they see it because they have been taught. Guns also have a safety on them (a button or a switch) to prevent it from firing when the trigger is pulled. The best thing you can do with children is teach them. Knowledge is power and if you start at an early age you don't end up with "curious" kids. They already know everything about it so there's nothing to be curious about.
Kids, especially when they get to a certain age called puberty, will find holding a gun very cool. Or just a 5 year old that is curious. They can be taught so much, but there is always the risk they will play with a gun if it is within their reach.
And if you lock it, then it is useless to use for protection, because before you get hold of it it might be already too late.
Home invasions during the day probably don't happen as often as they do at night if the person is home. Most burglars wait until the house is empty to intrude. During the day, my gun is accessible to me. It is locked (there is a safety on the gun that prevents it from firing). In some cases you have to pull the slide back to load the bullet in the chamber. Neither one of my children are strong enough to cock a gun. That is the 2nd safety feature on a gun. They can't pull the slide. I don't leave my gun in my children's sight during the day but they know if they see it not to touch it. It is within my reach, though. I can "see" someone coming at me during the day. So the gun is placed in an area, safety on where I can access it easily if need be. At night when my children are sleeping, it is under MY pillow in my room- safety off- locked and loaded. At night time its different because it's difficult to see the intruder which makes it all the more dangerous. That's why I don't take the time to pull the slide back....or leave my safety on. It's ready to go. Different situations- different scenarios. At night time- with me- its less likely you will live....during the day I can see you and more than likely disarm your ass before you fuck with me or my kids. I won't shoot someone in the back UNLESS they are running towards one of my children. If they run out the door of my house I let them go and call 911 if they haven't been called already. Then I let the police handle it.
Are you not scared that the one "invading" is just your drunk neighbour that tries to open the wrong door? Or one of your kids?
If you come towards me and I know you don't have a weapon I won't shoot to kill on the first attempt but you WILL get shot somewhere to bring you down. If you keep advancing, I will shoot to kill because that let's me know you will stop at nothing to try and hurt or kill me. I will drop your ass like flies on shit. No problem.
Why do you make it so personal that you want to shoot me? :'-(
I will do you no harm.
Lol I was using it as a reference....not that I'd actually shoot you....kinda 3rd person. I'm not worried about ever shooting one of my kids. I would never do that. If perhaps my child did wake up in the middle of the night and come in my room meddling or messing with things I would know it was them. I don't just wake up and start shooting. I do take a few seconds to evaluate the situation prior to playing Annie Oakley. If my son or daughter ever decides they want to sleep with me I always FEEL them get into my bed. I would move my pistol from under my pillow and place it at the very edge of my bed between my mattress on the side I am sleeping on. I assure you, I take every precautionary measure and assess every situation prior to pulling the trigger. My rifle is semi-automatic and no, it's not an assault rifle. Most people think AR stands for assault rifle but it doesn't.
It stands for "Arma-lite Rifle". Some leftist and anti-gun degenerates call it an assault rifle and giving it a bad name without educating themselves prior to their dumb ass assumptions and insinuations.
Oke, I trust that you are using your gun in a responsible manner, but what about all the other people in the US? EVERYONE can have a gun and apparently MOST people have one. This means that also the "less intelligent" will have a gun. Those people will not clean/maintain it on a regular basis. They will leave the gun on the coffee table while they are at work. Their kids are not educated, because of the simle fact that they are not capable to educate their kids and don't even think about it.
You are probably not the big risk of accidents, but what about those people?
I understand your point of view and I respect it. Let's take this to a different level. Let's say that all guns are illegal. You can't own one whether you're a criminal or not. Doesn't matter the circumstances. Now, what happens to the people that use their gun as a tool to hunt their food? People that don't go to the supermarket for their food? Do they just starve because guns aren't allowed? You see, there are more "good" reasons to own a gun than there are bad. Guns don't kill people. People kill people. Example: you think all guns should be banned because of the BAD side of things. Does that mean that the GOOD side is expendable because of the bad? Like the bad overrides the good? If you take guns away, criminals will find another way to obtain them or find other means to hurt/kill someone with a different weapon. The gun is irrelevant because it is a diverse tool. People use knives, baseball bats, a crowbar, etc. to get the job done. I'd rather get shot to death than beaten in the head or stabbed multiple times. That's a stupid thing to say but there's some logic to what I'm saying. A gun is somewhat "merciful" when it comes to killing vs. using other weapons that can cause prolonged suffering (more than likely). I would rather not die at all or be put in that situation. So should we ban ALL tools that are used as "weapons" because bad shit can happen with them? No. We need those tools. A gun is a TOOL used as a weapon. A knife is a TOOL used as a weapon. A crowbar, machete, baseball bat, bow, etc. are all TOOLS that can be used as weapons. It doesn't mean we should take them away because of the risk of harm they could cause when in the hands of the wrong people.
You take it pretty far into the extreme, but sure you are allowed to do that. I just think that we did not really understand each other, but that is also my fault.
I do not want to ban guns completely. That WOULD be stupid. Guns exist and we need some people on "our side" that own the guns and know how to use these.
I just have the opinion that not EVERYONE should be able to own a gun. I also kow it was not intended like that, that is an incorrect explanation of the 2nd amendment (marketing stunt from the NRA / large gun manufacturers).
I think that guns should be owned by trained professionals if it regards prevention & stopping of criminals. That would be the police, FBI, army, etc.
Next to this professional usage of guns, there is also the recreational part. Yes, shooting guns is also a sport. But why not keep the guns intended for sports at the shooting range? In a safe locker, only to be opened by the rightful owner. That person should also be trained in usage of a gun and its maintenance.
Hunting, another valid useage of guns. But again the person having the gun should be trained. Also this is another kind of weapons. You can still kill with it, but -as you said- there are other options like knifes also. The persons that have guns for hunting can also store their weapons in a safe location, for example a shooting range.
Certain types of weapons should be only available for the professionals: army, police, etc.
Personal gun ownership can be valid, but only in a safe way and only for the people who are mentally stable enough, not a criminal, adult, etc. And the gun should be kept out of reach of kids.
That is my OPINION. This is based on how we do it here where I live. I know this works, but I also know that getting there from where america is now is a long long way to go. But that is not a reason to not do anything and let innocent people die.
A good first step would be to have a better screening of people that want to have a gun and not simply allow everyone. Let's first proof that that person can handle a gun in an adult and safe way.
Do you not follow the rules? Then you loose the right to own a gun. No valid use for it? No gun! Do we find out you let kids play with it? No gun! You want to buy an automatic gun? Sorry, those are for the pro's.
