They will indeed be going after SS. This is actually part of it along with the proposal to make SS tax free for all.They cannot wait to take it away from American citizens. All the money should be theirs.
. On the proposed adjustment a portion of what keeps SS solvent is money coming in from tax on it for those over a certain income. Certainly it seems like a great idea on the face of it not to tax SS benefits (could be that's how it should be), however from what I have been reading, the shortfall which was projected to result in a 22% reduction by 2034/5 will now result in a 33% reduction several years earlier.
.You see - it's like with any economy, say your household, where money in has to at least equal money out.
When you increase the outgoing then you need also to increase what comes in. They have no plan or interest in doing that.
. Do you think the GOP (who have been trying to destroy SS system for decades (think Paul Ryan) will do any of the things that could be done to keep it solvent?
. Raise retirement ages
Increase payroll tax and employer contributions
. Remove upper income cap on individual contributions (but not max payout) ...do I hear howling?
