You really think so? I've always supported decriminalization.....of course I'd like to see more outreaches for people with addiction issues and for addiction to be treated like the health crisis is actually is.

Alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there. It's right up there with heroin, honestly. It's just legal and the method of consumption is more socially acceptable.....I would not say alcohol is as addictive as heroin.....but there is much difference between the two addictions, if that makes sense.

In fact I'd rather deal with a heroin junkie who will just nod out or OD at worst rather than a drunk who is dangerous to others and abusive(all drunks are).

The problem is it destroys societies. The massive increase in homeless drug addicts which police cannot force into rehab like they could when it was criminalized. Judges could tell addicts "either go to rehab or you will go to jail". That worked and now it is gone. You have all these homeless addicts who have health issues, mental issues, they spread disease with their I.V. drug use, many resort to crime to feed their addiction, you have raving drug addled lunatics causing havac and destroying the quality of life for every one else.

It is just bad on so many levels.

They never end up before a judge just for using though as it is. It's a drug related crime that gets them arrested.

You can go to prison for 5 years for possession of heroin......that's a bit much, so mostly cops dont arrest junkies and junkies WILL swallow a whole stash and die to avoid a jail detox.

It's a mess as it is. We gotta change something because this shit we are doing now isnt working great either. Now we are gonna see more street drug users because doctors are being shook down over pain killers by the stupid government.

The response is too extreme. We need to stop pretending opiate induced euphoria isnt wonderful and be a bit more realistic and understanding about the use of these drugs. And the illness that is drug addiction.

Police are out there trying to either scare or inspire(or a combo of both) junkies into getting help. It's a bizzare relationship lol
