A lot of them are homeless vets often with mental health issues. The V.A. will help them but they have to apply. The VA will get them free health care, including mental health care and addiction assistance including inpatient rehab, they will pay for 6 months to a year housing automatically via the Grant Per Diem program, and if they qualify get them the V.A.'s version section 8 voucher in about 3-6 months (theycan use the group home housing during that wait time).

Those are facts not that you are interested in them.

Now, from my experience the street homeless tend to be younger often hippy drippy leftists as drug addiction tends to hit the young harder than the old. The long term homeless tend to be older though, life long addicts, who have burned every bridge and wasted every asset they have on their addiction. In short, your posts are not based upon data or evidence just your personal biases and hatreds. That is both sad and pathetic and you really should try harder to be less ignorant.

The amount needed to get to a felony level in most blue state is quite large and clearly gets into the distribution level. Sorry, but your average dime bag or quad doesn't get you to felonies. Also the ability to use charges to force people into rehab where they cannot simply check themselves out the next day is invaluable. The judge tells them to pick jail or rehab and virtually all will pick rehab and they can't leave until they complete the science based program.

That is an excellent example of addressing root causes. Take away the judge's ability to offer them that choice and they usually just continue their addiction into they die. That is not a solution in any moral sense. That is why decriminization is such a total and absolute failure and always results in skyrocketing addiction rates and deaths.

Decriminlization of drugs has been an absolute, total, fucking disaster in every way possible.

You really think so? I've always supported decriminalization.....of course I'd like to see more outreaches for people with addiction issues and for addiction to be treated like the health crisis is actually is.

Not just decriminalizing it and leaving people to rot on a sidewalk with no help. I have a small government stance here, and the war on drugs has been an expensive shit show.

Alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there. It's right up there with heroin, honestly. It's just legal and the method of consumption is more socially acceptable.....I would not say alcohol is as addictive as heroin.....but there is much difference between the two addictions, if that makes sense.

In fact I'd rather deal with a heroin junkie who will just nod out or OD at worst rather than a drunk who is dangerous to others and abusive(all drunks are).

Yup it makes less money for organized crime and regulates quality standards as Harm Reductions able to be aware of dirty drugs..

Spain I think it isnt decriminalized but is for personal amounts and crime rates have dropped
