the 3 strike law put drug addicts away for life for non-violent crimes

Jail works for some people because it has a routine they wouldn't have on the outside... but whole life, really? Sounds a tad over the top to me.

most of these people suffer from childhood trauma… so the structure of jail helps when you’ve lived in survival mode your entire life

But the US war on drugs has led us HERE.

If you really think "most people" have such terrible childhoods then I pity you.

Most homeless people are former foster children.

Decriminlization of drugs has been an absolute, total, fucking disaster in every way possible.

You really think so? I've always supported decriminalization.....of course I'd like to see more outreaches for people with addiction issues and for addiction to be treated like the health crisis is actually is.

Not just decriminalizing it and leaving people to rot on a sidewalk with no help. I have a small government stance here, and the war on drugs has been an expensive shit show.

Alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there. It's right up there with heroin, honestly. It's just legal and the method of consumption is more socially acceptable.....I would not say alcohol is as addictive as heroin.....but there is much difference between the two addictions, if that makes sense.

In fact I'd rather deal with a heroin junkie who will just nod out or OD at worst rather than a drunk who is dangerous to others and abusive(all drunks are).

all drunks >>>
I get drunk and laugh with friends .. never hurt anything but a two four

sxrew druggies ..

Someone liked one of my posts in this thread this morning so i reread it and laughed heartily that Biden, dem/prog voters are literally bitching about laws Biden fucking wrote that dems/progs enforce hard.

As if it's our fault and they need to convince us that the government probably shouldnt be involved in our medical crisises.....right. :LOL3:

What fucking morons have the high populations of homeless addicts and support drug war, crime bill Biden?

It's like they suffer cognitive dissonance.

The saddest thing is.....I hope people were not hoping to get properly medicated for pain and anxiety should you end up with a painful terminal illness. The government is out to protect us from addiction, and if that means you get no effective pain management for serious medical reasons well that's a sacrifice GovCo is willing to make. They care. They really do! Thank them when you are dying in pain and fear that they are working so hard to protect you from possible addiction.

Dem/prog defensive arguments always sound the sweetest from those who are actively suffering the negative and ghoulish outcomes of the policies. Its just prescious. You always wonder what their breaking points are going to be and how devoted to their authoritarian shit show circus "the party" they are. They ONLY care when its themselves or someone they havent dehumanized yet suffering the outcome.

Oh and another thing I learned from this thread? Even dumb meth heads are smarter than leftists. What is likely going on is all the smarter people who care about America were driven to drug use after living with extremist leftards and they found peace living as nomads and staying high. Good for them.

And not a single example of authoritarian policies passed by the small government conservatives. Not a shocker. Just complaints about the democrat war on drugs.

Portland is a notorious hotbed of degenerate white leftists.... I'm talking about the videos in Philly which shows various different ethnicites with drug problems.
some of the homeless tent people some food like I have you'll quickly find that most of them are down on their luck Trump supporters from all over the country. It's not a bunch of leftists out here living on the streets in tents and shitty old RV's cooking meth.... it's Trumpsters. :-P

Thank you for proving how absolutely clueless you are on this topic. As someone how volunteered at homeless shelters for some time I can say with authority there is no real hunger even among the homeless. Everyone e gets food stamps, free food handouts happen multiple times per day, there are numerous feeding programs. Food is not in any way the problem.

My local housing authority says 80% of the street homeless are addicted to drugs or alcohol and that is the main reason for their being street homeless. The people who are just down on their luck or who are fleeing abuse quickly get into shelters, transitional housing, and even supportive housing. The street homeless won't go to the shelters because shelters have rules to prevent them from becoming unsanitary mad houses. They have a daily chore roster, you can't do drugs or alcohol, there is a nightly curfew, and they have to be engaged in counseling. The street homeless refuse to do that and that is why they are on the streets. The only way to deal with the root causes is to deal with the mental illnesses and the addiction issues. Nothing else deals with the root causes for 80% of cases.

Those people are caught in a viscious cycle of dependence which is difficult to break once they've fallen down/descended so far. And now they can't get out. I've seen something similar in Vancouver too. Then they become part of the streets, addicted to drugs.

Perhaps much of it is their fault, bad choices in life whatever. But just goes ta show once a person falls that far in life it's pretty hard for them to climb back to 'normal' again.

I would agree but there are programs to help. Free rehab is a good place to start, free mental health counseling is another. After they complete those programs there is also temporary supportive housing or even permanent supportive housing.

All the free ones are ran by conservatives(like the incredible program I went through that saved my life) so you know those will have to go.

A good percentage but not even close to be most.

I think Lilly posted a study somewhere here and it was like 40%
