Not just any random person with a gun can always take someone out in a shooting like this. It takes a lot of practice and skill......and even so, it's still a possibility that a dumb ass with a gun that has no idea how to use the damn thing can actually get the job done and take out the "bad guy". So...it's not enough just to have a weapon, it has to be the right kind for that purpose and that moment.

the news report didn't say what kinda weapon he had.
But the shooter must've seen him had an idea what he was up to, then gunned him down

I'm 5 feet tall and weight 135.
While I take care of myself and am in good shape....and I'm not exactly some wimpy delicate flower... im not going to go running up on an active shooter and start martial arting.
Using a gun would be faster and safer for me. It's my constitutional right and I'll always chose the path of less risk if my life is on the line.
