Gas prices are even worse here in California. The cheapest place near my house is a Costco and it is still $5.99.

Oil is a highly volatile commodity.
One day it can be selling for $100 a barrel, but the next day $8.

But it'll take an economic downturn and a resolution in the Ukraine crisis to depress oil prices. Also, Russia with its unexpectedly long war may be forced to flood the markets with cheap oil to pay for it.

I suspect Russia is broke by now.

China will probably Intervene to force Putin's hand. He has to listen to them because that War pushed Russia into China's orbit & back pocket.
