@Alticus …I had a big hungover today, but we went in early anyway. He’s too far gone now. He managed to open his eyes briefly and registered that we were both there, but that was that.

Good morning Breakfall. I remember hangovers well. Very unpleasant.

Are you in the hospital or at home? Spend as much time as you possibly can with your father in law. Hold his hand until the very end, that way you can say you were there for him when he needed you most. Also, I know how hard and painful it is to lose a loved one but please try to not use alcohol to kill the pain, the relief it gives is an illusion. It will only harm you in the long run.

He’s in a respite/aged care facility. We‘ve spent heaps of time with him over the years. These past couple of months we moved him closer to us so we could regularly see him. We dedicated a Saturday or Sunday to him and took him out to lunch and a spin on the pokie machines.

I realise that you quit alcohol, but I love the stuff. Occasionally I will binge, but the truth of the matter is…I actually don’t have an addictive personality at all. Yesterday I was binging and today I’m drinking raspberry milk. I’m actually about to pour myself another.
